Benji link and a $2m payday help lure Kiwi Blair to Tigers

Can see why theyre doing it this way though…..you can imagine what clubs like Brisbane & Roosters could generate with their backers, hell throw in Souths now and even us....compared to someone like canberra sponsored by the local bottle shop.
We have come quite a fair way in this regard and its ONE area Humpty deserves kudos.

That said watching Blair lately he's not playing like a 500k player.

highly unlikely.
people need to remember you only get 300k total per team for 3rd party payments.
we were told when lote signed that a good chunk of his contract was from 3rd party deals.
i'm sure benji has some as well.

every club would be trying to use all 300k of the allowance each year.
so i doubt there was much left if any that would go towards the blair contract.

**_People need_** to learn the rules before quoting them. 300K per team is for 3rd parties associated with the club. There is an unlimited amount of money available for anyone from 3rd parties not associated with the club. This isnt Soviet Russia.

a club is not allowed to set up a 3rd party agreement to get a player to sign with them,or it is included under the 300k cap, even if they are not club sponsors.
look at smith and inglis for reference.
you cannot guarantee 3rd party deals.

benji makes his million because he generates his own sponsorship.

so what part of the rules do i need to learn?

Bonstonker I'm not having a go at u but mate u r wrong. Glen b is correct.

I'm sure Bon is right guys. You can't go guaranteeing 3rd party deals on the contract.

Blair can source his own deals up to an unlimited amount (such as a Foxsports appearance), but WT can't be found to be involved in any way.

So really, every club is on equal footing because these unlimited 3rd party deals has to do with the player, not the club.

But the nice guy and exciting image of the club probably does help players get these deals (The Tigers boys are all over the media!) and I think the club probably cleverly focuses our business case like that.

I'm not well versed with third party rules but correct me if I'm wrong Bon;

I want to out of my own pocket throw $50K to Blair to top up his salary. This is fair and outside the club third party deal cap because I have negotiated directly with Blair?

On the other, WT approach me and ask me to throw $50K at Blair to guarantee his signature. This would be counted under the club third party cap because they have been the catalyst for the deal?

1st scenario would fall under 3rd party agreement outside cap

2nd scenario would fall under marquee allowance, capped at 300k.

proving it is a different story for the nrl.unless it is souths, they leave a nasty stench that is easily traced.

do you guys want the inside scoop?

This is how it goes down

CEO "we are interested in player "a" we can offer him 300k a year, But before u decide on that why dont u go see "joe" at such and such and then go see "pete" at blah blah" then get back to us.

Player manger "ok will do"

its how its done and how its been done for years.

Nathan cayless "worked" one day a week at a real estate agency for the best part of his career ar parramatta earning 150k a year from that particulr real estate company.

As long as the person/company has no financial link to a club the nrl cant do anything about other wise it would come under the restriction of trade law.

So did Craig Wing, but it was still considered under the cap. There can't be any direct link or even a referral found. Yes, what you are implying about corruptness is correct, it does go on. But no one would know about it, especially one of us.

BUT this kind of scheme would not be counted in the cap, nor quoted in the paper. Which was the original statement.

 the inside scoop.really, that really happens.wow
going down a familiar path.inside a month too.

the reality is,teams get caught out and the rules are there to see.

The NRL has revealed it rejected two third-party deals the Broncos hoped to register for Inglis outside their salary cap. One was a deal with Channel Nine, believed to be about $50,000 a year for three years. Another was an arrangement with the Queensland Former Origin Greats where Inglis would act as an ambassador, travelling to aboriginal communities and be paid from monies provided by the federal government to promote indigenous employment.

Schubert ruled that both contracts were negotiated at the time the Broncos lured Inglis from Melbourne to Brisbane. An NRL spokesman said: ''Deals with Channel Nine and FOGs were both submitted by the Broncos, who were told they would both go in the cap as they performed part of the negotiation. Ultimately, the Broncos agreed with that.''

the aboriginal medical service had no financial link with souths.
neither did anz stadium,wa spit roast, and neither did the car dealer who supported the dogs.
if the nrl believes the timeline presented coincides with you signing that player the nrl will judge it inside the cap.

instead of being the scoop, try to comprehend the facts presented.
it doesn't get any clearer than what i am presenting.
