Benji Marshall - First tiger to 1000 points in 2012?

Either he will do it in 2012, before September starts, or he won't do it in 2012\. I can't see us making the finals if he can't score more than 44 points in the remaining 5 games. Wests need him to stand up and give us something in attack!

It is truly amazing to think that with the side Benji plays in, his 2011 form and his improved goal kicking, that he may not be able to score 160 points in 24 games.

If he averages 3 goals per game, he scores 144 points. Meaning he would only have to score an additional 4 tries.

The Benji we know should of shat this in. Incredibly, he may not get it…....he is currently on 116 points.

Finally a high scoring game for Marshall, with 15 points (7 goals, 1 field goal). That is his highest tally since round 19 last year against the Cowboys.

I just realised he was supposed to be on 966 after last game. I had him as 956 in my post above. So last night's game brings him up to 981, with 4 games to go. 19 to go. Surely he can do it before round 26!

I hope the club has something prepared to recognise this achievement.
Im surprised there is nothing about it already, a counter on the website would be good. Or maybe that is something this site could do, have a Benji Marshall points counter or countdown thing thing.

Another 6 last night would put him @ 987\. 13 to go into 3 games. Going to be a tough ask with some of the remaining games, so here's hoping we put 20 on the Roosters. Oh and that they are scored by him.

Marshall's worst 3 game score so far this year has been 10 (4 vs Canberra, 4 vs Souths and 2 vs Brisbane) but surely we are playing better now than we were then!

He now sits on 997.
Disappointed the club isn't doing more in the lead up to this milestone.

Looking at players who have scored more than 1000 for a single club:

Balmain (1): Barnes - 1519
Brisbane (2): Lockyer - 1156; Mick De Vere - 1062
Canberra (2): Dave Furner - 1218; Schifcofske - 1052
Canterbury (4): El Masri - 2418; Halligan - 1490; Lamb - 1279; Gearin - 1006
Cronulla (2): Steve Rogers - 1255; Mat Rogers - 1112
Illawarra (1): Wishart - 1044
Manly (3): Eadie - 1917; Bob Batty - 1150; Ridge - 1093
Melbourne (1) - Cam Smith - 1168
Newcastle (1) - A Johns - 2176
Newtown (1) - Ken Wilson - 1001
Norths (1) - Jason Taylor - 1274
Parra (2) - Cronin - 1971; Burt - 1659
Penrith (2) - Girdler - 1572; G Alexander - 1100
Roosters (1) - Fitzgibbon - 1454
Souths (2) - Simms - 1841; Purcell - 1128
St George (1) - Langlands - 1554

So it is a pretty rare thing to achieve, with only 27 players having do. That is almost as rare as players racking up 300 games. I hope we celebrate the occasion when he gets it!

Well he finally got across the line. Not sure how he feels about bringing it up after such an effort yesterday…
