Benji Marshall ignored weeks of NRL calls

Yep, blokes like stryker like to talk it up, exxagerate to the fullest…been reading too many DT headlines

Someone says the game owes him nothing....next thing he wants to crush peoples skuls...one extreme to the next.

Whos the fool?

Well tough guy, spitting your own vitriol against others on here because you don't agree with them got me laughing. Well done.

I learnt a long time ago not to argue with idiots because they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

 and yet you proceed to do so anyway? surely that makes you the greater fool?
But by all means keep riding the bandwagon of hate. I look forward to reading your insightful postings next year when you turn on Robbie.

Gee, now you can see the future. It just gets better.

The game made Benji what he is and gave him what he has.
The game - and our club, owes him nothing.

**Tauber seem to think otherwise**

Best thing BM could do right now is get another manager

I've been reading this forum (and the insane amount of vitriol on it) now for a while without registering because I didn't feel the need to. Today, I hit the button after reading this statement to say the following?

Are you honestly serious in saying the game / club don't owe him anything?

Yes, he's a star because of the game.
Yes, he was paid for his efforts.

Think for a second what those efforts have done in return for both the game and the club. He was an instrumental part in the club's first premiership. He was an instrumental part in a Four Nations win for his country. He was an instrumental part of a World Cup win for his country. Off the back of that and off the back of his style of play and personal stature, he has brought immeasurable amounts of marketing dollars to both the club and the game itself, culminating in his image being used as the face of the game numerous times, bringing fans and members that you can probably guarantee would never have become interested otherwise (I know this because I myself am one of those people). He has influenced thousands of juniors and been a hero and an inspiration to current, past and future players of the game as well as any number of other things that serve to raise the profile of the club, players and the code in general.

Benji Marshall has his fair share of knockers, here and elsewhere, for reasons that are entirely justified. He has an stupid amount of errors in his game, he's currently out of form and this latest episode isn't helping his relationship with those people, **but to try to infer that he hasn't repaid his club and the code in spades with his efforts throughout his career is not only insulting to the guy himself, but disgraceful conduct from somebody who's apparently a fan of this team, given he's done more for it than most players ever will**.

You missed the point….its in blue

The game will be grateful, the club will be grateful and the fans will be....I am grateful for his efforts.

He isnt owed any more, as his manager is bleating.

I mentioned Graeme Langlands a few days ago, one of the immortals

We remember the immortals for their contributions, but I als remember he was human as his final game showed....Im sure Beetson Fulton gasnier & co also had off days, poor games at times....
but we remember the good times.

Same it will be with benji - for me at least.

Glad you joined up....dont be shy, keep posting.

Haha I dont get the daily tele up here mate.
Sure I went to the other extreme, but that was born out of frustration from seeing my Tigers community talk so poorly about a bloke who has been great for this club. Most have been proven to be full of conjecture as I always suspected. He doesnt deserve what he has copped on here over the past couple of days. You can argue that his footy isnt great…no problem. When his integrity is attacked by people who havent all the facts then people get upset.

Still hiding you coward? I suppose that makes it easier to say what you want and then deny it was you as there are a couple of you that are anonymous. Carry on.

Its not a bandwagon of hate from this forum. Its certainly a minute selection of people who are taking things too far.

I disagree. Go through the last 30 threads that have been created on here this week. There has always been a core group who dislike Benji's game and him personally…they have been consistent for years. That number has multiplied many times over recently.

Hey tough guy, its not my fault it doesn't come up with my monicker. You know who I am. Your crude comments keep getting worse towards me because I don't back down from you - i don't regard that as cowardly. I have my point of view, you have yours but you are the one that started the rubbish talk as you admitted to on another post "the other extreme" is the term I think you used.

Was that you was it? I thought it was another anonymous poster who pops up every now and then. My post wasnt aimed at you.

I've been saying Marshall is average and overrated since 2008? Surely that gives me credibility Stryker?

No it doesnt because back then it wasnt a fair comment. He was the best player in the world in 2009 and 2010 playing in a very average team.

Quit the personal attacks guys, it's getting tiring reading that crap. Better yet, please stick to the topic so this thread doesn't get closed or deleted due to someone disregarding the rules that govern this forum.

Benji is leaving at the end of this season. For better or worse it's his decision so let's get on with supporting the team. Apparently they have a tough game tomorrow night.

Cannot disagree with any of that.

Watching channel 9, has he burned his bridges with the Tigers? Does this affect the other Marshall boys at the club?

No I don't think he as burned his bridges, but I think he should burn the bridge between himself and his manager. From what I have seen, it looks like Benji hasn't been advised very well lately and his manager has done him no favours with his quotes in the paper and on TV.

Tuned in just to see what he would say on TFS.

I am now left in no doubt that he painted himself into a corner and the new management called his bluff on the Union threat trotted out for over 7 years by Marshall & Tauber.

Now he is [This word has been automatically removed]ed. No contract, no security, no need for anyone to offer big money to lure him.

I think he is realising that

Good point… It's a shame, then again if that's the advice he got I'd hope Benji would have been smarter about it.

Ironic smeg, he does or did have a contract. Strange he said he had 3 hrs to decide, I thought that's what the week in Bali was about
