Yeah its a crowded place but its not like he isn't allowed to go there. It was maccas, not a nightclub. He would not even even thought there would be a risk going to McDonalds.

in a perfect world your theory is correct. but it ain't a perfect world. benji's just been inducted as the face of rugby league. he is/was officially the #1 marketable player in rugby league, the man.

would you see david beckham, lebron james, roger federer walk into a maccas, in the heart of the city, on a weekend, at 3am? ofcourse not. because they understand the position they are in. your life changes once your in the spotlight. if you live the same as you always have, you have to expect the controversy that follows with it.

good on benji for sticking up for himself, its good to see he's true to himself, but his actions have consequences. assault is a charge recognized by the courts, something that is very pretty for the front page of the papers out there.

My thoughts on the situation are this;

1) if the Wests Tigers don't come out in force and make a public announcement in full support of Benji then in will be a disgrace . It is time for Humphreys to show what he is made of and make a statement that supports Benji 100% .
2) any legal action taken against Benji will be a disgrace and not in the public interest.
3) the person racially vilifying Benji should face sanctions that prohibit racial vilification,
4) the NRL should immediately come out and support Benji in this situation whereby it is clear that this player has been baited by disgraceful scum.

I think number 1 will happen very quickly. They have many supporters and sponsors to keep happy and I think that Humphreys is a very smart operator. He will have this sorted.

Trodden is an experienced criminal lawyer & is fully supportive of Benj - as is the whole club!!

You can put the house on that!!!

Even Phil Rothfield has come out in support of him not facing sanctions from the NRL - which is truly extraordinary!
