I still think some people under estimate just how good he is. He has always had the freakish skills, but like all champions he has worked hard on his game and is now a very complete footballer including being a good defender.
Far and away the best player to ever wear a Wests Tigers jersey and as far as I remember (going back to about 1980) far and away the best player to come from either the Balmain Tigers or Wests Magpies.
Even better than that he`s as loyal as loyal can be. I`m not forgetting Robbie Farah either as he`s not too far behind him, they are both true legends and I just hope they can help deliver another couple of premerships before they retire as they truly deserve it!

He is a champion and look forward to the next 6 or so years left of his career which will hopefully delivery another premiership.

His kicking game was very good last night, finding space most of the time and he struck those field goal attempts well from a good distance out.

He is dangerous when ever he gets the ball with his running and passing game. I'm glad his a West Tiger.

I think winning the Golden Boot has lifted his game to another level. He's a game breaker and I'm so glad he's a tiger. You can see how the opposition hang off him because they don't know what he's going to do next.

He looked angry last night. I'm not sure if it was determination or if he is feeling the pressure, but he just didn't look like he was enjoying himself. Great game and should definitely be favourite for Dally M this year.

I thought he had a slow start last night - a few misdirected passes and poor options.
Sometimes when he starts a bit out of sync he puts his head down and things don't improve much- but last night he stepped it up a gear and turned showed everyone the super talent he is.
I think he now has the maturity to shake off the odd mistake - just as Andrew Johns would do .
Good on you Benji - and the whole team who ALL put in.

Only Benji could have scored that try last night, only Benji !

Reminded me a lot of that one he set up for Fitzhenry against the Sharks in 05 with all the stepping then finding the hole in the defence.

He is a really good player and has to be considered one of the best in the game.

I agree with the sentiment that he has improved his play so much. Last night his long passing game wasn't on but his ability to run the ball, his short passing game, his kicking game and his defence were all top quality.

His defence at times last night was outstanding on Taylor in the second half . Three or four times he really hit him hard After seeing some of Benji's attempted tackles from 06-09 who would of thought he would start defending like that . His hands let him down a few times last night but he is a playmaker and that happens . Looking forward to next friday . Wish i was going !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Benji's a gun

Was watching the game last night with my 10yo son who commented 'Dad, I wish we could see Benji make a long run and score another try this week'…5min later Benji scores his brilliant individual try. After the cheering in our house had died down I said to him 'Didn't take him long to give you your wish huh?' Not only is he a gun, but he's an absolute hero to thousands upon thousands of young fans out there..more so than any other player of recent times.

what can be said about benji marshall that hasnt been said before. like the post above me - the guy is a hero for many children -

But, he'll always be number 2 to Lockyer. (said tongue in cheek)

Fair comment imo - Lockyer is the number 1 player of recent times, Benji in time will be as good and as consistent.

the best in the game* :sign:

Has been his best start to a season yet,as with other seasons he gets better as the year goes on so with the start hes had this year where will he be at seasons end.My only concern is that he may tire with doing so much over a long season and with niggling injuries we may not see the best when it counts the most, and for that reason Id like to see Miller kept om the bench when Loui returns with Miller at 1/2 and Loui at 5/8 so Marshall gets a break when not needed.

Off topic..but just watching Jamie soward taking a conversion from the sideline, the preparation, the stance, the approach to the kick is just light years ahead of Benji. Everything must be perfect before boot touches the ball. And lo and behold, straight through the uprights. A natural kicker.

Anyway, Benji still rocks.
