Yeah, good call…. if he could swallow his pride and agree to reasonable money, It wouldn't surprise me if it happened.

I don't know about that Happy. He might be back, but if all goes to plan, there won't be room for him at the high flying tiges

Well in my opinion it will be one of three things

ESL
Japanese Rugby
Wests Tigers

He won't be a success in Rugby

Look at all rugby five eights in this era

They all play the odds

Benji is as far away as it is possible to be from being playing the percentages

could make a very good full back. …Benji for all his faults is very dynamic and mistakes are not as costly in rugby overall

Eh I think Marshall is going to kill it in Super Rugby. He'll have a few curly moments but he'll be a Quade Cooper type except he's got a lot more to his game than Quade does and Quade is an international quality 10.

I don't agree at all.

His curly moments far out weigh his good moments and he is playing a game he has nothing to with for a very long time.

He has limited time also so I think it will be 2 years and he will be back at the tigers on a 1 year deal and the NRL will promote the 2016 season with BENJIS BACK commercials.

You heard it here first.

To those that believe Benji will be back, I really doubt that as he has his eye on the All Blacks, always has, I think he will play some of his best footy for the Blues

Full time Auckland Blues 35 - Hurricanes 31

Yup, he played the game at no10\. Blues lost 38-35 to the hurricanes. Benj went solid, got told he was doing the restarts just before the game and was unsure of where to stand on offense at the start as thy were targeting him.

One of his signature steps got read well by Ardie Savea (All Black Julian Saveas younger brother if any know him) an got smashed. But he got some alright momentum and confidence going throughout the game and was putting players into gaps and looked as though he still had the knack. Solid game overall for Benj, Good to hear he went alright!

That's very good to hear. Was gonna go on the blues forum to see how he played but I will settle with your comments.

from foxsports.com.au:

Benji Marshall solid in rugby union debut for Blues against Hurricanes
AAP February 01, 2014 5:46PM
>
BENJI Marshall has made an encouraging start to his Super Rugby career, getting through 40 minutes for the Blues in his first game of rugby union in more than a decade.
>
The former West Tigers and Kiwis rugby league star played the opening two quarters at five-eighth in the Blues' 38-35 pre-season loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday in Masterton.
>
There was no sign of nerves from Marshall, who distributed the ball well, made the odd run at the line and took on the responsibility of restarts and kicking for touch.
>
Marshall tried his trademark sidestep once - and met the considerable force of Hurricanes flanker Ardie Savea - but mostly, he was content sticking to the basics and getting a feel for his new position.
>
"I didn't set the game on fire but, in terms of trying to get control and feel for playing 10, everything I wanted to get I got out of it," said a happy Marshall.
>
"It wasn't about being the best player on the field. It was just trying to get through what we practised and get a feel for the game."
>
Marshall didn't shy away in defence, although he failed to hold on to Tim Bateman in the build-up to the Hurricanes' third try. He even opted to get stuck into a couple of rucks, with mixed results.
>
Blues coach John Kirwan was pleased with Marshall's first hit-out and ruled out a switch to fullback.
>
"I think (first-five) is his position," said Kirwan.
>
"He certainly put his hand up today so we'll put him out there again next week and we'll just keep working on him. It was a good start."
>
The match, in front of a sold-out crowd of 6000, was an entertaining one, which produced 11 tries - six for the Hurricanes and five for the Blues.
>
The Blues recovered from a 19-0 deficit to lead 21-19 at half-time, and 35-24 at three-quarter time, but more direct running from the Hurricanes in the final spell produced the rewards and lock James Broadhurst scored the winning try with eight minutes to go.

sounds like he did alright for his first hit out. doesnt look like he will be using the hop-sidestep he was known for too much though!

good on him.
