Benji return

I've been thinking of this question for a while now & I'm still split in 2 minds,on one hand I truly believe in attack he would thrive in this current team. The space that our forwards are creating would make Benjis running game hard to stop & if he took a backseat to Farah and Brooks I think he would get back to his best but on the other hand I don't think we can have 2 defensive liabilities in the 1/2s.

As this season has progressed Robbie Farah's captaincy has improved markedly. The reason for this is that this season there is only one captain on the field and play does not revolve around one former star player.

Thats a very good point that I hadnt thought of.

Anyone watch his 40 minute cameo tonight???

His team were winning at halftime when he came on and they end up being blown out by 19.

Looks about 10kg overweight. Huffing and puffing like an old man.

Missing tackles, just looking lost in general.

He looks even worse then last year attitude and fitness wise.

I'd have him back. Even if only from a Marketing point of view which, apart from ANZ cheap tix, is still pretty ordinary. I agree the odds are pretty long about it happening.

Marketing point of view?? Maybe a few years ago

Less Tigers fan would turn up these days if he came back.

That how much market appeal he has these days.

Benjis 45 minutes for Auckland Blues tonite will probably be the full stop on his Union career.
Missed tackles, poor kicking game ,poor positional play, hospital passes…stuff were all familiar with, saw his teams lead of 17-14 when he came on turn to a 20-38 loss.
I think it will come to a head as early as next week & Benji will be available to the NRL,so brace yourselves....

What if benji returns and he buys into potters style! With the foward pack we have now benji could be back to par what he can be, especially with a good halfback. He should go straight to super league for the remainder of the season to make some of his dollhairs and maybe get a bit of his mojo back. Then sign back with the tigers for 2015!! It would be a great thing for the club in my opinion.

The PR alone would be a plus for WT. He will never be at his peak again but he is not a washed up has been just yet.

Like i said.. Watch this space.

So who are these players we are supposedly moving to accommodate him and are you suggesting in an earlier post he may come back to cover fullback? That's the only injury I can think of that your talking about.
I do agree he may be an asset with the go forward we now have but I just don't see how he fits in with Potter, does he come back cap in hand and leave ego at the door. Maybe his mate Moltz moves on to accommodate him, can't see it but who knows .

So going off some people's logic we'd like to lose Tedesco ,BMM and Koroibete to sign Benji

Does everyone elses brain hurt as much as mine does at the moment ??

I wouldn't entertain losing Tedesco for him but if he isn't staying anyway that might be the only way I can see this, but yes things like this make my brain hurt too.

I hope this whole thread is a piss-take and people seriously aren't considering taking him back. Wouldn't even have him back for minimum salary. Off-field distraction, and would be lucky to not be by far the worst player at the club.

Love the man for what he did between 2005-2011, but seriously he's a cancer right now that we miraculously got a cure from.

Join this thread with the footy show thread. They deserve each other.

I can't see any value in having him back. We are playing a different brand of football now. Sorry benj. This ship has sailed.

No thanks we have a good culture where all players work for each other and we have Brooks who controls the team well and will get better.

Benji was fantastic for our club and whilst I will not bag him we have changed and so has he so best of luck in you future and I hope he finishes his career in style rather than as a memory.

People have such short memories…PMSL at carrying a player purely for marketing, this from a bean counter as well

Maybe he could be the ball boy

Give him a second tier contract , he and Moltz can tear the NSW Cup apart

I will be livid if we take him back.

Anasta will be in first grade somewhere and that means a performing young bloke will probably get arseholed to make way for him in the second row too.

Anasta will retire at the end of the year i suspect, and doubt benji will be back on a midseason transfer. nor should he be back in any sort of playing capacity. Salford's pretty cashed up, he could do well over there.
