It sounds like money was the key factor in signing with the Dragons as Steve Noyce said " we offered him a very good deal and thought Benji having close mates around the club would give us an edge , obviously he has other priorities " .
Well his priority is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ instead of playing with his so called close mates at the Sharks.

I was pretty surprised today when Rabs asked Johns if Marshall would make a difference, and Johns basically said no. He should have stayed away and gone to England, and maintained whatever shred of credibility he had left. Over time i think his brilliance would have overshadowed the train wreck he's become. Now that he's back, with an extra couple yrs to muddy up his reputation, its only going to make things worse.
I guarantee he'll be despised by Dragon fans (he already is). They're the most petulant supporter base in the comp. They'll call for his head after every single loss.

I'm not a 'Benji hater', in fact I was a (qualified) supporter when he was still with us and his form was down. But I didn't like the circumstances around his leaving the club even if he did receive "some bad advice". I agree with GNR, he should have gone to sunny England for a few seasons to save his credibility.
But I wouldn't write him off as a player. As I said before he left; if he gets picked up by a team with a coach that knows how to take advantage of his skills, I think he can still be dangerous.
