Benji return

I don't really want him here to upset the apple cart, but I wouldn't rule it out. Look at the furious way they were going about memberships he won't help this season but next it would be a boost to that and sponsorship. I wouldn't take anything Mayer says literally it would be a board choice if we could offload a couple of fringe players aren't we NRL controlled now? Anything could happen..

I don't necessarily agree that Marshall would be good for memberships or Tigers promotion in general. I know memories are short, but not that short. Consider his performances, both on and off field, before he left for RU. Compare those to the way Wests Tigers are performing now. I would think there are several current players in the WT squad that are far better role models and would be better for promoting the team and brand.

The reality is that even before he went to RU, Marshall had left and joined another team. Perhaps Paul, Darryl, Beau etc can find room in their cap to have him back. I missed him when he left, but I don't think we need him in any capacity.

Quick question.

As Benji was granted a conditional release to join Rugby Union and this in all likelihood contains a do not compete clause what would the process be for him to get a contract and what financial compensation could Wests Tigers seek to allow that to happen?

Betcha he joins our other castaways at the Sharks.

Re-uniting the cancerous little boys club along with Sleau & Heighno.

Disaster written all over it

The Tigers did not insist upon a do not compete.

One think that just popped into my mind is; I hope that this doesn't become another off field distraction for the team.

Benji Marshall has issued a public plea to all clubs to give him one last shot at rugby league

I couldn't care less where he ends up as long as it's not at wests tigers. If any team is stupid enough to sign him then good luck to them.

Hardly. He's not coming back to the Tigers, and why would a team that's going well and starting to gel with a bunch of new players remotely care about what yesterday's man is doing?

When questioned about players' contract status or club management questions, Mayer constantly replies with "was done by previous management/before my time". He recognises the poor mistakes from Sheens/Humpty and doesn't want to make them again. Benji wont return to the Tigers.

I think Souths will be his club for at least this season, and he will go well as they are a strong side. He did things for us no other player could ever dream to do but in saying that we needed the separation, and it is now evident that the path we have taken is the right one.

All round disappointing decision. Would have liked to see him persist, but such is the 'Happy Meal' mentality of players these days, their own reputations seem to mean little

Where will Souffs get the money?

They have cap space for 2014, they saved space for Fergo in case the NRL decided to register a contract. Souths are the one club he might succeed, big forward pack with plenty of go forward and of course GI would be a handy target for some of Benji's great passes.

It would be crazy going to the Sharks, he needs a team firing, not a team on struggle street
