Play 5/8 and find the gaps that were missing at 1/2.

Hopefully whoever plays halfback will create some gaps for Benji, instead of Benji needing to create everything on his own. Then we will see him back to his best

It's not so much creating gaps for Benji it's splitting the opposition defensive line's focus. As it is they only have one half that they have to put any defensive pressure on, that really cuts down Benji's options as he cops all the defensive pressure when we're in attack.
If the defence has to keep even half an eye on someone else in the halves it will make Benji's job so very much easier.

That is what I meant by it, having a halves partner that will try to take the line on and put the defence in two minds, they hesitate and a gap or half-opportunity is created for Benji.
Hopefully Miller and Anasta will both provide him with a truckload of opportunities, Miller with his running game and Braith with his top-notch passes. It should be good to watch I reckon :sign: Can't wait

Anast on the field for us will change the way the oposition defended against us last season , anasta , benji , robbie , miller , this if we do click and i think we will can give our oposition big headaches , anast feeding some of the big guys like blair and bell aslo can make for some interesting footy , benji to 6

Benji doesnt need a halfback to create space for him directly. He needs a halfback to control the side by taking on all the dirty boring stuff like organising the forwards, clearance kicks out of danger areas and supplying crisp, clean ball on backline plays.

Our halfback does not need to be a superstar. He needs to be a workhorse. If our pack stands up and our half controls play, Benji will have the room to create attacking raids. Miller is the man IMO. Anasta should be lock and Benji 5/8th.

True and the spine should be 1\. James Tedecso 6\. Benji Marshall 7\. Jacob Miller 9\. Robbie Farah. and 13\. Braith Anasta we have 4 ball players and all can get clearing kicks away we have so much options but thats how our feel our line up will be come next year and yes top 8 here we come.

Everybody's picking Miller at half and Tedesco at fullback as two thirds of our spine- two kids who haven't even played six full first grade games between them to take us to glory?
Somehow I don't think Potter will take that chance.

Yeah.Miller hasn't proven he can handle NRL speed & pressure but good luck to him, genuine NRL halves are like hens teeth.Just a thought but an attacking move or kick that doesn't involve Benji would be handy, last year you would have sworn Tommy was coaching again.

Seriously, playing halfback for Wests has to be the easiest halfback role in the NRL.

Run the forwards with Farah and then give it to Benji.

The ideal halfback for Benji would be a running halfback with speed and a great kicking game

Someone in the Steve Mortimer mould

I don't think so, especially when our forwards get belted and sat on their arses like happened in most games last year. Not much go forward to work behind.

why didn't we have Fulton go to dummy half on last and pass it to Farah to kick? to take pressure of benji

Fulton provides nowhere near the crisp service from dummyhalf that Robbie does. On the last you have everyone gunning to crowd the kicker which makes quality ball extremely important.

Seriously misguided Gary

One of the HARDest roles in the NRL would be playing in between Farah and Marshall

Farah is clinical

Benji plays what is in front of him

Farah would be setting up for a play and Benji would be looking at something completely different and Benji would be screaming for the ball Farah might want you to go blind for the play he had in mind 😱pen_mouth: and the coach wants you to call the shots :wtf

Call that easy :brick:

Look the best person to weigh in would be Watto being an ex half and getting his opinion

I dont think moving Marshall back to 5/8 will free him up to pick and choose his input though as Miller is still very raw and will need plenty of assistance guiding the team around. I hope Miller is the answer at 7 but I'm not convinced as yet. If he can emulate what the young souths halfback did in in his debut season then we are set, but imo thats very unlikely.

Who would of thought that Marshall and Farah would of lead us to a premiership in 2005 CK

Same goes for Foran and DCE in 2011
