Benji vs Ciraldo

We got the better coach. Had we not had the Galvin drama plus injuries to Bula, etc we would've made the 8. Ciraldo and the Bulldogs got lucky with the soft draw. We will be top 4 next year.

Our team is definitely better than the dogs who struggled against the top teams like Melbourne and Panthers plus got smashed by the Roosters.

Benji may well develop into a better coach, but at this stage Ciraldo is streets ahead on just about every measure... im not sure how anyone could say otherwise

Melbourne put 70 past us, we didn't even fire a shot against Penrith a few weeks ago.

I think Ciraldo is over-rated and Benji is under-rated. Whether one is better than the other, I can't yet say.

Personally I like Benji's vibe, I have confidence he's a long-term solution and he's a man-manager in the mould of Wayne Bennett. I think he has what it takes to be a good coach, I think he has the right personality, intelligence and mindset. I believe players believe in the coach, they've totally bought into his culture.

Benji vs Ciraldo I reserve judgement until our forward pack has more impact players and Makasini is a permanent addition to the backline.

It's not until our side has needed more quality you can say one is a better coach than the other, it still has a way to go for the roster to get the finished product.

Ciraldo at the Dogs gets so many advantages with Gus Gould at the helm. Being able to poach Galvin just being the latest example. Even Ryles at Parra is not a fair comparison given the advantages he has going for him: i) wealthy leagues club, ii) good juniors pathways and iii) Center of Excellence, etc. Fitzgibbon at Cronulla also had a stacked premiership ready roster to work with on arrival. Coaches need to be evaluated not on the absolute results but on their value add: how much they improve a team conditional on the roster they have.

I think a better young coach comparison with Benji is Andrew Webster at the Warriors. Both Benji and Webster started at roughly the same time and arguably, you'd say our roster has been better than the wahs over the same period. Maybe I am just being brainwashed by the many wahs fans I am surrounded by. But from the outside looking in what Webster has done over there is quite incredible. He's on track to make 2 top 4 finishes in his first 3 years as coach. Only Bellamy and Cleary has achieved that feat over the same period. Their cup side has lost 2 games all year and they are the 2 time reigning Harold Matts champs.

Contrast that with what Benji has done with us over the last 2 years. Galvin shenanigans aside, we had our chances to make the 8 this year. We were still 5-4 before the Melbourne debacle. Maybe things improve next year but if they don't, throwing the kitchen sink to get Webster back to the club wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.

This thread is just full of troll accounts from other fanbases lol.

First the guy who started this thread is clearly a bulldogs fan. Such to the extent he has liked a post calling him out on it 😂. Then this “sydneytiger” made his first like 5-7 posts all about the warriors and how they are such a good side then saying how we are not gonna beat anyone apart from the titans.

Great post. But I don't think anyone would say we have the better roster over the WAHS. Look at their depth in KOE, they are well ahead of us..

They should be ! They have a whole country to pick from , and first dibs to most Polynesian kids not born in Australia. The fact they haven’t won 5-10 premierships already is ridiculous. They should have been so dominant that the next team before the dolphins to join the nrl should have been South Island , but only now is it starting to bear fruit .
They are also benefitting from a culture shift in nz away from RU. To me it seems more in line with the small percentage of punters who shifted away from RL to the Waratahs or swans around Super league , but it’s a shift that the nrl and the warriors hopefully take advantage of .
In NZ RU will always have the heart of the nation , but there’s a strong possibility that 2 strong NRL teams along with the Papua team , could get a strong , healthy , sustainable market share at both the commercial level and juniors .
