BENJIS LACK OF DEFENSE

Since benji moved to 1/2 back and he has stopped running the ball his defence has gone backwards at a rate of knots.do u think that this is affecting him as he is now not running the ball at all and all he wants to do is kick though the line. Gone are all are sweeping backline plays, and on top of this he has become a nightmare in defence.
Also dont know why we play with another 1/2 as sirro never seems to get the ball maybe we should just play with a extra forward.

i have a lot of hope on ellis being back and able to stay on that left edge, protecting benji… and ye i think the opposition is trying to tire him out through so much tackling (or non tackling really)

ellis needs to have a massive effect on the team, he is the only hope atm imo 😕

Benji's defence wasn't any better last year, it was just that Lui had a lot more traffic directed at him than Benji did. Take a look at last year's stats and you'll see Benji would make 8-10 tackles a game and miss 3 or 4, whereas Lui would make twice as many tackles, and miss twice as many as Benji as a result.

Also I think the biggest contributor is that Benji is playing injured

Injured??? Whatever always an excuse. He is playing pathetic looks totally insecure as an individual player, he doesnt believe in himself anymore and thats why he puts his only effort playing as a team player which statistically is good but its his individual instincts that he has locked up in the locker room and is killing us, he is the anchor to our attack our defence has never been famous our style was always let other teams score easy trys as long as we score more we were supposed to improve our defence to be more consistent but in doing that we have forgotten how to attack and injuries has dismantled our defence! Now we got a middle of the ladder at best team.

Apparently been carrying a shoulder injury of some sort for a while. Haven't heard what exactly but it did get mentioned in the aftermath of last weeks game. Obviously not serious to be keeping him off the field. I know it won't be an excuse with Benji though, but it does explain the rise in defensive issues for him lately.
