Wayne Bennett set to be sacked as England national team coach

The English Rugby Football League is set to sack Wayne Bennett as national coach within the next 12 hours.Bennett is expected to be replaced by Shane Wane, former coach of Wigan and a man with an excellent record in Super League.

Bennett has been coaching England and then Great Britain with mixed results since 2016.
But the series loss to New Zealand late last year for the first time in more than two decades was the believed to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Despite turning 70 recently and having a fulltime role at South Sydney, Bennett said recently he was keen to continue as the Great Britain national coach.
