Benny Elias to Perth Glory

TIGERS great Benny Elias has made a surprise code switch, joining the board of A League franchise Perth Glory.

Elias accepted an invitation from WA mining magnate and Glory co-owner Tony Sage to become a director this week.

An official announcement will be made later today. Elias met Sage through business dealings in the west with his company, Chameleon Mining.

He travelled to Perth on Tuesday for meetings and to attend the team’s 3-1 trial win over a local side that featured a star performance from ex-Liverpool ace Robbie Fowler.

What would Benny's selfish pig headed reasons be? Do you have personal first hand knowledge or experience of Benny as a grimy backstabber? Of course you will say yes because you are Walter Mitty.

Benny has always polarised opinions even when he was playing. Me personally I dont have a solid opinion of him because I do not know the bloke. My opinion of him is based on him being a great player and the fact that he has poured HEAP of his own money into either the JV or Balmain. In particular the Rozelle Village venture is a long way from a safe investment for him.

As I said Benny polarises opinions and most of them are not based on anything concrete. I can see why he rubs a lot of people up the wrong way. I was lucky enough to spend the best part of a whole day with Benny (as a guest of Steve Gohsn) and we were also with Scotty Gale and it was in his last days. My opinion of Benny as a bloke changed a lot that day the way that Benny looked after Scott Gale just that day and apparantly it wasnt a one off thing and Benny really helped Scotty out. I wont go into details but what Benny was doing for Scotty this day was exceptional.
