Benny Elias Vs Robbie Farah?

I think happy has Queenslanditis,
Steve only got the QLD job because his little brother was sick - from then on politics played a role in his rep selections.
He was NEVER as creative, or as good, as Elias - who was the hooker who changed the way for all other hookers after him, including Walters.
S.Walters was not a dud by any means (and he had some pretty good packs around him, too) but he wasn't in Elias' class.
Different eras between Elias and Farah (who's not finished yet) but Benny at this stage.

Sorry MC but watched a fair bit of Benny , but just didn't rate him

Daniel Fitzhenry would of looked a good dummy half playing behind those unbelievably good forward packs of Balmain and NSW

Benny in my eyes only just barely beats Kerrod Walters and I would of taken Greg Conescu over Benny

Take your black and gold sunnies off everyone

Now you are making some ridiculous comments!

I'm not saying Benny can't play , he was just made to look so much better than he actually was because he had so much time

Tell me when Benny EVER played in a team with an inferior forward pack than the opposition ??

The tigers were rubbish from 92 onwards, Benny was still terrific and captained the blues in those days

You didn't have many decent hookers in NSW to choose from in those days

Mario or Benny (possibly Royce but he wasn't in Benny's league ) and then daylight

Benny was better than Mario

Different eras… The game in benny's day was totally different to today's game, with the 10m rule and unlimited interchange, as well as the sheer violence that was part and parcel of the game during the early-mid 80s.

I have always said that Elias is the most creative and skilful player that I gave seen lace on a boot, and will stick with that, just so I don't sit on the fence.

Not taking anything away from Robbie, who is a different style of player than Benny, and one of the best hookers to play the game since the Elias era.

I'm just glad that both played for the tigers, because you would rather have them on your team than be playing against them.

Iam old enough to be able to say I saw Benny from the start to finish of his career and yes he was the first no9 who was actually a attacking wepon. He was also very tough, although he played behind a great forward pack.

Very hard trying to compare any players in any sport from different eras, Farah to me has been a standout from day one in some very average teams and some good teams and like a good bottle of red he seems to get better each year. I think Farah is defensivly stronger and I think he has a better kicking game. Iam not sure if he reads a game as well as Benny did.

I cant split them, both great players, off the field Farah wins by a country mile

Benny is the best hooker of all time. Not much time for him as a person but as a player he is without peer.

QLDers will try and mention a guy called Steve Walters or Cam Smith….both are the biggest myths to come out of north of the boarder. Both very good players but not even close the best.

So Benny over Robbie.

Benny played behind fantastic forward packs whether it was Balmain ,NSW or Australia KS

Smith is a better player than Walters ,Farah and Elias in that order

Elias was highly over rated and just lucky he had Blocker to protect him

Farah would of beaten Elias from here to hell in the 80's and was far more skilful

Elias had far better forward packs than Walters and still struggled to dominate

Of that 80-90's side of Balmain he was easily the most over rated player in it

He was the reason you never won a premiership in that time

Lol…Benny carried our attack. Mick Neill ans Gary Freeman were hardly creative and Benny picked up the slack

Abraham ^ sums it up, "different eras". Scrums no longer exist for one, and Benny won lots of ball against the feed. Apples and oranges. Farah deserves his standing as the best hooker of today.

Farah won a premiership, something that Benny never got to experience. May not quite have the origin resume that Elias had but chalk that up to Buderus being the incumbent for years and the media circle jerk that came with it. Elias was brilliant in an era where you could still contest the scrum.

Two different eras, Robbie I would say is the cream of the crop today, much as Benny was in his day.
