Happy,I'm starting to think you are a bastard of a bloke,I would have loved to play against you, I have played against a lot of mongrols type blokes, but in the end we always had a beer together,I suppose that's the way it was…...

Only did one thing I wasn't proud of on a football field TT ,got sent > But seeing that preceded the death of a dearly beloved family member early that morning cuts a bloke some slack I guess

Just happened at entirely the wrong time for a kid hoping to make the game a career

Ben Elias: A grade germ who would rob a war widow of her last $5 if he thought he could get away with it.

It is no secret that Mr Elias & a business partner aim to start up an NRL team in Perth. Maybe the demise of Balmain/Wests Tigers will enhance his chances.

Ben Elias quote _"… the Balmain faction is dead."_ (full article below).

**Death of Balmain inevitable says Elias
By James MacSmith**

SYDNEY, Sept 7 AAP - Ben Elias says the NRL has sounded the deathknell for Balmain's involvement in the Wests Tigers after the foundation club was left without any directors on the joint venture's board.

On Friday NRL boss Dave Smith unveiled the new Wests Tigers board, which includes three new non-executive directors chosen by a nominations committee comprising Wests, Balmain and the NRL.

Those directors are Rosemary Sinclair, Lucio Di Bartolomeo and Marina Go.

They join Tony Andreacchio and Simon Cook from Wests to make up the board.

With no Balmain representation on the board, club great Elias, who has previously served as a board member, said he feared the end of the foundation club involvement with rugby league.

Balmain's $2 million debt to the NRL, has prevented them from holding a position on the board.

"It is very, very sad I have to say," Elias told Triple M on Sunday.

"It is like we are on life support and it is inevitable they are going to pull the plug.

"Unfortunately those directors are there to support the NRL. Balmain will always be outvoted in preference to the NRL.

"That says in a nutshell the Balmain faction is dead."

"We have been a big supporter of the game since day one, we need the NRL to support us now.

Elias said the relationship between the Tigers and Wests factions of the board has traditionally been "terrible".

He also took aim at the lack of rugby league knowledge on the new board.

"Those three people who have come on the board, their experience of rugby league is zero, they have no rugby league affiliation," he said.

"What worries me is that people are being put in the big positions and they are don't understand the grass roots of rugby league.

"It is big business and I respect business people coming in and making big decisions but I also respect the fact you must have some of that rugby league faction there with you.

"You have a look at our five board members and you have no rugby league experience on that board and that worries me."

Elias said he felt it was unlikely under-siege coach Mick Potter would be offered a new contract by the new Wests Tigers board.

So Benny thinks you need experience in a football code before you can be on the board of one. Whats experience in soccer does he have, seeing as he's on the board of Perth .Glory

Considering that the traditional culture of rugby league is to look after your mates and worry about who is a good bloke rather than what they actually bring to the table, I think it's very good that we have business people rather than RL people on the board.

The ladies will sort it out , more and more woman are getting high profile jobs due to the fact they get results , we need money in sponsorship , and a broom put through the place , don't think for 1 minute they won't do it , I say we have a real new approach coming up , something this club has never had
Go get them girls

Case in point of boys club rather than talent is the footy show thursday on nine.

And whom on the old board had the business smarts? Was it the Olympic swimmer or the weatherman? The new board will be tasked with the business side of the club and having successful business(wo)men is the first step. Leave the footy to the football department.

We've had people in positions of power over the last few years who have had copius amounts of Rugby League "experience," and where has that got us?

On Elias, I think Smeg echoes my sentiments pretty accurately.

Plenty of people pouring it on poor old Benny without having one skerrick of evidence of what he's exactly done.

Its a mess,i can't put what i know in print but its just a shame, there are people with Balmain in their hearts trying to get things sorted without spending the rest of their lives in court so fingers crossed.

He gets 21k a month for doing what exactly,to tell us that the Balmain side of the JV is screwed and he was the cause of it , someone get him some help and if you do it would be more than what he would do for Balmain….as Smeg said he is a GRUB would take $5 of an old lady if he could get away with it. :imp: :smiling_imp:
