If Dwyer is getting picked on potential, then so to should Lawrence. He should be in 100% of teams. Would have been one of the top 3 players to ever put our jersey on, if not for injury.

Benji and Tommy at the peak of their powers. What an interesting halves combination.

Tommy would have made Prince cry

Seriously, would the tough, rough, no nonsense Raudonikis have complemented the dazzle dazzle of Benji? Not sure.

Most definitely - apart from his toughness Raudonikis was a great organiser. He would have allowed Benji to run free but had the nouse to know when the reins needed to be pulled in.

Surprised but not disappointed to see Teddy omitted.

On Elias vs Farah - one won a premiership the other one didn't. That's enough for me to make it a no contest.

It should have been stated when this best team would have played - because there are some players being picked - whilst terrific players in their time, would not stand up to today's game, would be the same in reverse.

OR are we pretending they could survive in each others era and just picking them anyway. I see a lot of teams that favor either Balmain or Wests and lots of players out of position that have obviously kept a better player out of that position.

Oh well!

Don't think it matters just pick a team..

I was very close to picking Teddy. I just think Jack was a brilliant fullback but Teddy may over take him by the end of his career.
I really despised Elias and still do but he's up there with Walters ans Buderus, Fatah on the next rung.

If I had to pick a team of my favourite players

1 Brett Hodgson
2 Darren Willis
3 Kevin Mcguiness
4 Paul Whatuira
5 Pat Richards
6 Benji Marshall
7 Scott Prince
8 Harvey Howard
9 Robert Mears
10 John Skandalis
11 Billy Dunn
12 Gareth Ellis
13 Ben Galea

14 Dene Halatau
15 Jason Lowrie
16 Todd Payton
17 John Wilson

I'll confess I don't remember a lot of Benny, in fact I remember him playing for the Blues more than anything.

The years I remember best he was overpaid and part of an awful team.

Disliked them both at times but understand what motivates Robbie and respect him for it. I also have an opinion on what motivates Benny and don't respect him for it

Tiquiri

No love for Sirro?

Oops! My bad. Actually, there are a couple of changes I would make to my team.
Jack
Corowa
Brasher
Hanley
Tiquiri (as a right side winger. Both Lawrence and Corowa played L.H.S)
Marshall
Prince
Roach
Farah
Donnelly (Although Beetson was the best prop I have seen play, he didn't get anywhere near his best until he was at the Rorters)
Sirro
Ellis
Pearce

Boyd
McGuire (as the second bench prop)
Lindner
Knight (Dual international, an enormous body who could play wing, centre and second row). Ideal bench player

Benny played more Tests, and Origin games.
Just playing devil's advocate, I'm actually not sure personally which one I think was better. Hard to pick between them.

Very difficult indeed. Would be happy to play alongside either, both great players.

Benny was brilliant mate, had skills that revolutionised dummy-half play IMO. Skills
and vision of a playmaker before that aspect was fashionable. Steve Walters was a robot by comparison (had nothing beyond a strong running game).
Benny is an out-and-out flog but during his peak he was a genius. And tough as an old boot.

Gee how good could Dwyer of been.

I reckon any team that doesn't have Tommy Raudonikis as no.7 isn't a fair dinkum team imo.

I know I'm not in a position to make a fair comparison because of my age.

I... Just.... can't....do....it

Blood relative to slimy fart. If being human was a competition he'd have more wooden spoons than Parramatta.
