After everyone’s advice on where to start the day , pubs etc and where to stay?
My Son and myself are road tripping down from Byron for round1, for our second time at the the 8th.
Last time was years ago when Farah kick the field goal to win in extra time against the Knights.
Any advice??
Cheers in advance.

From memory I believe rooms are available at the Cat N Fiddle Hotel 456 Darling Street, half way between Rozelle and Balmain.
You could always start the day there and then wander up to the Sackville, then across Victoria Road to the Garry Owen. Pub grub available then walk to Leichhardt having a last cleanser at the Orange Grove hotel, 5 mins walk from LO.
Cheers Browney

Stay within walking distance of LO. That way on game day you can do the march/ pub crawl into the ground. Sometimes this can be the best part of the day.
pub stays can be fun https://themertonhotel.au/accommodation I'm there are plenty of others around the area.
Pubs with the best footy atmosphere near the ground (imo) are the Red Lion & Garry Owen. I find the OrangeGrove pub a bit too big and too busy.
In the ground we alway stand on the hill.

Gee the Mertons certainly changed, looks good TW. I don’t know the Red Lion, where is that ? Is it new or an old pub renamed ?

Just looked it up online, looks like a ripper pub.
I’ll put it on my list next time I’m in Sydney.
Walking from Balmain the Red Lion is one pub before the Garry Owen in Rozelle . It's a great pub with lots of space. Although on game day it will be pack. It's generally our first choice, the beauty of the march into LO if your not feeling the vibes at one pub, there are plenty more.

Just did some research and discovered it’s the old Callan Park then Darling Street hotel ( in my day).
I hardly ever went there, preferred Garry Owen and Sackville or Leagues Club.

Also if you're after food.. the street snags that locals sell (outside the ground) on Glover St are great. Adds to the carnival atmosphere.
We generally on into the ground on the Hill side. Via Glover St, rather than Mary St.

Funny but for most of my life I’ve entered through Mary Street and stood in front of either the Barnes or Robinson stands, no sun in the eyes but can be hard on the feet.
Different strokes for different folks eh !

Sun can be a bit of an issue. with a 6.15pm kickoff hopefully it will be behind the grandstand by then

Thanks legends,
Been keen to do the march , pub crawl to a Sunday arvo at Leichhardt since I was first introduced to rugby league and the Tigers in 1988.

With me and no misses🍻🤘
Can’t wait but yer I’m keen for the full experience, 🤞for the win and a sunny day🍻
