Best winger

TNT was a beast and Patty was awesome for us when he was here, but Ryan has them all covered. He's strong for his size, has developed some great variety in his game over the last season and a half and can cover anywhere in the back 5.

Talent-wise, I'd say Pat and Tuiaki would be tied for first place, but if it were the bloke who turned up every week and played his guts out every game, I'd say Beau would be in the mix…

I voted for Richards but loved Mr. T.

At the present time however, Ryan is the form winger in the NRL comp. not just for the Weststigers.

He might be the form winger in the comp playing centre

Pat Richards over daylight. Richards read the play well, was good in the air, was quick, and a strong defender.

But with the ball he was absolutely every bit as destructive as Tuiaki. He had the best palm I think a winger has ever seen. Go and watch the 2005 highlights and look at the amount of tries he scores from 10 metres out where he's just 10 meters out one on one and he just palms the fullback/winger off so comfortably.

Seriously what? Beau Ryan over Pat Richards, now I have heard it all.

Ryan is playing well for us , but lets not go nuts. He has scored every try for us this year off a kick. Why? Because he's not quick enough to get around his winger and he's not strong enough to barge over (Although as you said he is strong for his size). He's a real tryer, great team man, quick between the ears… but Richards was class in everything he did....remember him manhandling "the untouchable" Gasnier?

Richards didn't rely on others, he just got the ball ten out and barged/fended off their winger so easily. He scored 26 tries in 2005, and theres a great portion of them that few other wingers in the comp would of scored.

If you want an example of them both in big matches, in the 05 grand final Richards gets it 40metres out and backs himself taking care of Rod Jensen so simple...in the 2010 semi Beau Ryan has to kick ahead and we lose.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot this was a place where your opinion holds more weight than everyone else's.

Are you going to rouse on everyone who chose Tuiaki over him as well?

I voted for Richards over the Tank but it was close & the most improved player in the game Beau not just the most improved winger, remember these are only opinions where all got one.

The one and only "Tree" Tuiaki.

He would have gone down as one of the greats of WT if he was able to play on. What a machine!

I voted for Big Patty. I reckon he was the most skillful and naturally gifted winger we have had in our short history but his time with us was so limited. I wish he had of stayed on, i'm sure we would have been a little more successful over these past years with him on the wing outside Rowdy. Imagine that combination exploding down the side lines at full stretch. We also really miss his boot.

Tui could have gone on to pass Richards but unfortunately his time was cut short. He had limited skills which he more then made up for with his Poly sidestep that every fan loved.

I really dont see Ryan getting ahead of these guys. He is solid and loves to slap his team mates on the back when they score but i dont see him in the other guys league just yet. I think he needs to take his game to another level to have that killer impact. I think he is in great form at the moment but i think he still remains at the level of a really solid first grader, he just doesnt seem to have that 'X' factor about him. I dont know what it is, maybe my opinion of him will always be tainted because he was such a useless pea heart when he first came on the scene. If we had a vote of most improved player, Ryan would win that poll hands down.

I cannot believe there is no mention of Ahmad Bajouri or the great Hassan Saleh!! Mark O'Halloran even, while we are at it throw in the legendary Jackson/Lipina "I have a headache" Kaufusi!!! Ha ha ha…

In all seriousness there haven't been many great wingers go through the club since our inception. Tuiaki was awesome but for me Patty Richards was the man, has a ring to prove it!!!

I agree, and Milford,Beau is a way better player now than he was in 2010,so he is improving every week,he would be the most improved player in the comp,(Sterlo,Joey and Freddy agree),so why laugh, plus Beau has stuck solid with the club, and he will contribute for years to come.
Patty and TNT were fantastic, but on form now Beau can stand along side them.

I admire Ryan and like him, but I'm not gonna argue beyond this. Its not an attack on Ryan, who is one of the better improvers in the comp. But Watch the 2005 season highlights if you have it. Richards was an absolute freak who could batter people in attack and defence. Very few wingers can do that, in the 2012 NRL competition, there is not one.

There is a large amount of tries Richards scored where he just ran over, fended off people, barged over, and not just over anyone, he shrugged off strong defenders like Peachey, Eric Grothe, Clint Greenshields, Jensen like they were reserve graders, and in defence he creamed people too I.E - Gasnier. He was also very quick, great in the air, and if we want to talk about versatility he played centre for us and if we didn't have the best fullback in the comp, I'm sure could of played 1\. Not to mention he had a huge boot and the greatest kick off's the NRL has ever seen, EVER!

Tuiaki was also very good, but Id have Richards who I think was a better all round player. But I can comprehend why people would vote Tuiaki. The thing about Richards and Tuiaki is they could score tries from anywhere, if you gave them space they were hard to stop/run down. Not many of our backs if any you can say the same about in 2012.

I remember when we first signed Lote and how excited I was that we could of had Lote on one wing and Tuiaki on the other.

Tuiaki probably gets my vote as he was the most devastating winger. I will always condemn the efforts of Richards and Fitzy also for that fairytale 2005 run. Lote was fabulous in 2010, then 2011 came and injury hit him badly. Felt sorry for the bloke. Now it's wonderful to see Ryan hitting full straps and playing to his potential, hopefully it lasts his whole career.

Struggling with this one. Richards and Tuiaki have come and gone (sadly) so we are rating all their "Tiger" career performances. Maybe if this poll is run at the end of 2013 we may all vote for Ryan if he continues to impress/improve as he has this season.
