So 2 of our big 3 are Hastings, Gildart, Shall I order my commemorative 2022 WT wooden spooners T shirt.

Having a look around if i was looking at next year

1. Sign Brandon Smith or Josh Hodgson both who look like they might come available. Simpkins only 19 it qill do him the world of good to play 20 mins each week behind either.

2. Sign one of Sua, Tapine, Toby Rudolph, Nathan Brown or even Teviat Pangai Jnr to add a quality forward to the pack - beggars cant be choosers and all are origin quality or will be

3. Im assuming Hastings moves into Halfback next year but if not go hard for Shaun Johnson or Mitchell Moses (i know but sick of loosing so lets pick talent).

4. We need an outside back although i do feel we have lots of potential coming through the juniors here and their isnt much left in the market but a quality winger - DWZ, Corey Oates type

Aim for 3 or 4 of those depending on hastings and make sure given the cash qe have that we get 2 at least

We have 700k left this yr we can front pay to save it next yr, all of Packers Money, half of Mbyes prob and whatever we can offload Brooks for. That gets you 2 or 3 quality players

Well I did suggest DWZ 22 days ago so id sa that counts as being first

Doueihi is a fine player but defensively a weak link. He is not a rookie. What do you do with him? He appears not to want to improve.

I think he actually is. Cheap shots at players that aren’t his faves (Brooks, Kepaoa, Ivan) has become the norm.

So you are happy with continued defensive errors which lead directly to tries?

No. Are you happy with Brooks kicking the ball straight to the opposition?

To be fair though he is getting quiet good at it, sometimes they don't even have to move, at all.

Yeah but we are better off treating our big 3 as Laurie, Douehi and Looch in terms of making them our highest paid rather than just throwing money at aging stars which is how we got messed up in the first place. Even if they aren't highly paid by regular standards it'd just allow us to surround them with better players which could elevate them into bonafide stars anyway.

I am loving the signs I am seeing out of Laurie and Douehi. I think Laurie should be our six honestly and Douehi probably our 13.

Interesting idea using Doueihi at 13. Certainly has the size. Would probably need an off season to work on his engine. Won’t happen.though.

I can go on about the faults of this team,players and coaching style for eternity,however,for all the lacklustre performances that appear to be never ending we must see what Hartigan,Madge and the club are doing to rid us of this culture that has been festering for years..
Myself personally I get disappointed as much as the next mad WTs fan,supporter and member,but I can see with the youth and great talent emerging that there is bright sunshine on the horizon ...
I have to ask why can we almost beat a top 4 contender in Souths and then get beaten by a lower performing team in the space of a week..
I know that the performance against the rabbits took a lot out of the younger players who are still learning and developing,its a natural process in a high level intense arena...the team fought back against the cowboys,titans although disappointing we can clearly see that they started to understand what fight means,after all look at the scoreline the Rabbits had against the Storm albeit their marquee players were out 50 nil,at least our boys tried to scramble back and score points,so that shows me that they are keen to learn and didnt give up,they are steadily showing resilience and learning what NRL really is about...all I want to say is at least give Madge the chance to finish off what he is starting,you cant deny the quality of youth he is developing and building a platform for a much better team and club,learning a trade takes time,give the young guys a chance to show how much they can learn under Madges coaching,if its to hard for them or any other of the squad,then maybe they should have a good look at where they want to be in the future...NRL is a hard game made even harder by rule changes that everyone has to adapt to and source out players that can play to the style the NRL is obviously developing for the future of the game,either its a good thing or a bad thing but we have to adapt......

Most of our money is spent on securing the juniors we’ve recruited from other clubs. We probably have the highest paid next gen talent in the comp. It was the only way to get them over. I’d be surprised is anyone of our young stars are paid less than $300,000 k a season. I’d say there is about 2 million in cap money tied up in Laurie, Stef, Simpkin, Simpkins, Kepoa, Talau and Blore.
I don’t think it’s sustainable to continue to add rookies on that sort of coin.
We need to spend our next 2 mil on hard nosed experienced players.

How do you know "our young stars are paid less than $300,00 a season? or "surprised" if that is the case?

So I called it in May

Hodgson, we tried for TPJ but ended up with Peachey, Hastings in the halves and haven picked up Gildart and Mauamalo in the outside backs.

Not the best big 3 but def making the right decisions

Think we could do with another star forward with rumours of Thompson from the dogs and also still looking at another centre
