Big News Coming Soon

I dont know if that was to me Phyre… Im happy with the Richards signing, but unless we sign a forward immediately, or cannot find middle ground with Galloway I dont think we need to worry about forwards for next year, our scrappy pack is holding their own.

A pig to start immediately or dont bother.

Reddy in the centres? Did any of you watch our games last year? Reddy made Lee Murphy and John Carlaw look like Mark McGaw in defence. Played one game this year in the centres for City and was again to be a shambles in defence.

Reddy is good for depth but shouldn't be let anywhere near the centres.

agreed! BnW, need one good toiler. hopefully midseason from the bulldogs debacle else a reserve grade pig for match payments.

We also need a really good prop (galloway like) for next year. Whether we can snatch someone like that midyear im not sure so Mick will have to play it as he sees it. Hopefully he makes the right choice.

Reddy was great in city country and was defensively really strong against Idris . I don't think he should be centre but clearly southern tiger you were watching a different game

Not overly excited by this news. I wouldn't call it a massive signing either. Was hoping for something more tbh.

Patty is a good player but we need props, halves and centers. Signing a winger isn't a high priority. This signing won't considerably strengthen the team in much of a way…

If we play him at centre he will definitely strengthen the squad

I would play him at center. We have plenty of Wingers and not many top centers.

A signing that could go either way - madness or astuteness…
But I for one will be glad to see him in our colours again and would be happy if it was tomorrow, but not until '14, so we'll have to wait and see.

Even if he does play center, I'm not that excited. If a young center is given a go this year and we let rowdy go, chances are they will make a fist of it and cement their place. Richards should have been resigned 8 years ago. To call him back now seems that little thought is being put into developing our young guns and securing our future.

I see it the opposite…

backline of Teddy, Koro, Ayshford then who Reddy and another promoted kid? or do we promote someone else for Reddy too? Thats if we can offload Lawrence... Thats just the backs, now think about our pack for experience?

A signing like Pat is about having another experienced steward to help the kids we promote. Could you imagine the pressure Robbie would be under trying to cover all the young guys alone if we lost Galloway... We could have possibly done better, maybe, depending how it all pans out on the park, and we have depth in the development side of things, but Pat is the kind of old head with enough credits to his name to garner respect and the experience to share mentoring the young blokes.

Richards is a centre and a very good one at that. He just also happens to be a very good winger and fullback as well.

And at the moment I think our outside backs really need some help. I'm not sold on this yet but only because he must be getting old. If he comes back and plays as well as he did in the past it will be a great signing.

There was another post in a thread that said Lawrence was contemplating retiring at the end of 2013\. You would also think that Richards signing would mean the end of Loti.

We could deadset find a cure for cancer and some of you blokes would still complain about the lost jobs it would cause in the medical field.

Today is a good day. Sure its not Jamie Lyon, but its a good signing.[/quote

2ND that…. Well said!

At least we will have a better goal kicker, and a pretty handy player. Maybe Hodgo is looking to come back home too. He's killing it in England.
