if benji is the best player in the world then billy slater is the second best. He is beithoven in motion. Worth the price of admission alone. another immortal.
 
The Tigers have their own junior Slater in the making with James Tedesco hopefully. At 17 he showed what he is capable of today with 4 tries against the Storm.

Watched all of that game and Tedesco …..I thought of a young Slater will be watching with interest .

Rarely! And look at all the tries he saves with incredible one on one defence - not to mention his support play, speed and ability to break the line.
 
Golden I agree - his support play is brilliant, but under the bomb he is very suspect - put that little worm under pressure and rain bombs at him all game, and find a way to take out the chance to run into broken play and he's a nuffie.

and he's a filthy grub in tackles.

Golden, maybe you should ban yourself from posting for 24 hrs after a loss? Another stupid comment. Slater overrated?? Are you serious?

Here's another tidbit. Marshall isn't the worlds best player. Never has been. You want to talk about overrated players, I for one do not think he is as great as everyone thinks. I agree with the above comments about Slater. I would love love him as our number 1.
 
Slater best player in the world for mine, although has always had the luxury of playing with high quality halves, but even still in the best 2 or 3.

Would have him at the Tigers in a heartbeat.

no point putting a grubber behind the line when slater's at fullback. he is always there to clean it up. great positional play in defence, and we all know wat he can do in attack

very true statement,

I always think of Gidley/Tahu from the Knights golden era.

Gidley made Tahu look like such a superstar, the when he moved on from thw Knights, his star didn't quite shine as bright….

Billy has been running off the "real best in the world players" for the entirety of his career. He scored one freakish solo try at Origin level (because he got a good bounce) and has choked at clutch moments.

"Slater infield, to nobody - here's MARSHALL - HE'LL SCORE!"

In real world Sales terms, Slater would be paying a 30% spotters fee per game to Cameron Smith, and Cooper Cronk for all the "leads" he has been given.... :smiley:
