there are no drums or trumpets at either Leichhardt or Cambelltown - we are lacking in these areas.

gee that sucks - the cove (sydney fc fanatics) have heaps of songs for the players and the club, wish we had something more than eye of the tiger

I haven't been to alot of nrl matches and only the one wests tigers match at skilled park last year, It was pretty quiet in the stadium. Then i went to see sydney fc play goldcoast united in the a league at skilled park and the place was going off - chants, songs, drums. I understand football and nrl have very different fans but if all nrl matches were like that it would awesome!
Ive heard the leichardt games are like this but i dont get a chance to see them. I'll be at the broncos match in brisbane this year it would be awesome if there was an army, ill def be in there!!!!!

Go the Tigers :wahoo:

The WTF still exists in Queensland… And you are more than welcome to join our growing ranks. We organise ticketing for the Brissy game for 50+ of us, and all sit in the away section at the GC game. As well as meeting up to watch games we can't make it to.

I must admit beinga little jealous of the cronulla set up.

They just sit together wherever they go in the same jumper,no flags drums or any of that BS.

Looks sharp on TV and they always seem to be having fun.

Would you still be jealous of that set up if you had to sit next to me ?

They need all those things, songs drums and whistles…they need something to amuse themselves when your team plays for 90+ minutes for a nothing - nothing scoreline...great game that one

I agree with you Ink…...I get into the footy,Im screaming nearly the whole time, usually somthing to the ref or the boys.

I dont have time for drums and trumpets and a sing song....and Im not a big fan either.

It just says to me their main focus is on being part of the group, as opposed to watching the game and following their team.
Of course when a goal is scored all hell breaks loose for a few minutes, then its back to the orchestrated stuff

there seems to be no well-established term for a group of tigers. Streak, ambush, and hide are sometime used, but the terms of venery do not seem to include for tigers anything as firmly entrenched or as universally accepted as "pack of wolves," "herd of elephants," or "school of fish." [spelvin]

Sort of on topic … anyone got any tips on making a big flag? ie what materials to buy and where? ... looking at making one around 2m x 1m, with one patch for each colour - black, white and orange.

I've made about 8 of various sizes.

I found the best flags were made like this:

- go to Spotlight (or some fabric shop) and buy a 1.5m/2m length (depending) of satin fabric. It's usually about $5-$9 a metre. Get the shiny stuff. It's about 1.2m in width, so your overall flag height will be 3.6m or so if you make a standard Gold/Black/White flag. Spotlight at Birkenhead has several types of satin in the back right corner (looking in from the entrance). Using satin over other cottons is better as it's much lighter, the colour doesn't run and when it rains it doesn't get heavy. Satin is also shiny to it looks better.
- sew the fabric together making sure you double-sew (what ever the term is) the joins otherwise the flag will rip apart. Make it strong! I'd suggest folding the joins in by about 4cm.
- fold the edges in about 2cm and sew them too, otherwise they will tether.
- Poles are difficult. Sure its cheaper to just use a wooden pole from the hardware, but they are hard to lug around when traveling to games. I highly recommend forking out the cash and buying a telescopic pool pole. You can buy the 1.6-1.8m poles and they extend out enough to support the whole flag, plus it's SOOOO much easier carting around the retracted pole.
Obviously if yours is going to be shorter then you can probably afford to just use a wooden pole from bunnings. Much cheaper.

My banner is pretty big but I haven't taken it to that many games. It's just an orange background with black writing so it's easy to pretty easy to read. Sometimes at the Campbelltown games I bring it and connect it to the back wall on the south hill so it's up the whole time. It's the one that says:

WESTS TIGERS
SHINING BRIGHT
FEEL THE POWER
FEEL THE MIGHT

Some of you might have seen it? I might bring it to the SFS if one of the boys help me hold it up when they run out and/or score a try. Problem is if it's heaps windy it's like a sail and it will be gone with the wind and one of the poles will probably hurt someone. Are the SFS strict about the size of banners?
