Blair ‘trained too hard’ for Tigers

'trained too hard' could mean anything.
Maybe it means he like to try pull off big hits on blokes in opposed training sessions….
who knows.

Mick Potter rubbished himself in this article. He was the coach he should have instilled this work ethic as coach. Blair was always treated as an outcast because of the boys club that was split up getting him to the Tigers.

The boys Club that was split up…interesting take...Seems we are not yet rid of this 'Club'....4 years on...

I think we are.
The only senior players are Farah and Lawrence who are both hard trainers and works overall.

TBH I don't have too much of a problem with what Potter has said. Yes he was the man in charge - well sort of anyway. So he has to take some responsibility.
But we all know he never had total control. From board members and CEO getting involved with football matters, assistant coaches allegedly white anting the coach and players who thought they were bigger than the club…
Yep. A culture change is required. Hopefully this transition to a better culture happens sooner than later

I recall a story from years ago where Blair fired up at Benji when they were training for Kiwis, because Benji was goofing off too much. And obviously Blair's time at the Tigers coincided with Benji's "fat years".

Personally. I thought Blair was passable during the Potter years and was only really terrible when asked to be a different player under Sheens. That said, anybody who improves so much in one season was obviously not trying his hardest the previous year.

Jason Taylors fault.

Whats that? He wasnt here then?

So what. Lets blame him anyway. The clubs current position, particularly the issues of boys club from the last few years and lazy trainers etc from the last few years and garbage board decisions from the last few years is all back to that bloody Jason Taylor.

Whats that you say? Jason Taylor is trying to rectify this stuff because no one did it for the last ten years?

Good coach or not, im not sure. But at least he is having a dig for a genuine direction change. What happened in the Blair years no longer reflects today's team, so really the article is a bit outdated.

The article says more about Blair's average performance on field than anything else.

Got no problem with anything either of them said.

Got no problem with players such as Lovett being chosen in the top grade because they put in at training either. Prefer players who may have less talent but push themselves be rewarded with a berth, rather than those with plenty of natural ability that expect a spot be made available to them, as it breeds poor culture.

Who cares how he trained. He didn't pull his weight on the field and that's all that matters. He had a nice holiday at our expense and now he has moved on.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE LOAD OF GARBAGE!!

I remember the headlines at the start of the year!! Teddy Blair etc, etc, etc…
Here are Blairs stats for the first 3 rounds.

v Rabbitohs
L 36-6
39 Minutes
8 Runs
55 Meters
4 Hitups
1 Offload
27 Tackles
1 Missed Tackle

**v Sharks
W 10-2
40 Minutes
4 Runs
20 Meters
1 Hit Up
37 Tackles
2 Missed Tackles**
v Cowboys
W 22-44
59 Minutes
16 Runs
151 Metres
12 Hitups
27 Tackles
2 Missed Tackles.

THE AMAZING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RD2 & RD3

He stepped up after he absolutely embarrassed himself and the mighty "Brisbane Broncos" - Full of representative forwards no less.
You dog it on Mick Potter and the Tigers you get away with that....

You can't dog it on the Broncos.

SIMPLE AS THAT!!

Yeah, he really dogged it in round two by your stats. Fancy only making thirty seven tackles in forty minutes. Disgraceful.

HAHAHA….
He made 20m in Rd 2 - Justify it however you like.
20m is 20m.

- It's 1 hit up returning a kick....

Should have made 75 tackles in that time, would of had plenty of energy after taking his hit up and making 20m.
Running to the side line after his 2nd stint must have nearly killed him…. It's so far away!!

Every day we see another damning article about our club, how rotten we are compared to the 'good' clubs, how our culture is just so toxic. I'm convinced the Rugby League world hates us and I'm even more convinced we will not survive as an NRL club for much longer.

That is why I find this current situation so frustrating - had things been allowed to run their course we would be preparing for next season and hoping to see some further improvement. Instead we have again created a situation that allows for negative stories based on speculation and innuendo, destabilising the fan base, and fuelling the blame game.

Agreed - if Blair was not playing this weekend, this article would not exist. Potter was probably contacted to ask for more history on Blair's departure from Wests and in the end, Potter is just giving credit to Blair's work ethic.

Many pay out Blair's performances, but the training ethic joins some dots on how he played. He was always doing the "1 per centers" in matches - diving on loose balls, chasing down kickers etc.

Potter was the one that got Blair going by moving him to the front row.

Meanwhile we have a board who has the balls to make some big calls to root out what they reckon is causing this poor culture and the lynch mob have the pitchforks out.

Anyone remember our backup half Ben Reynolds? He was a great trainer too, totally professional. Could hardly play footy either.
