Adam Blair has been recalled to the Kiwis ahead of Saturday's Test against the Kangaroos in Townsville.

His call-up comes as a result of the forced withdrawal from the side of Jeremy Smith. Smith injured his shoulder in the Cronulla Sharks' last game of the NRL season.

While undergoing a medical with his new club, the Newcastle Knights, a further examination of his shoulder was suggested.

An MRI scan revealed the severity of the injury had been under-estimated and forced his withdrawal from the Kiwis.

Blair, has played 25 Tests and is the third most capped player in the Kiwis squad behind Simon Mannering and Benji Marshall.

I hope the Kiwi coach gets Blair to play in the style which suited him at Melbourne. It may be the turning point he will pick up on next year.

I know a lot of ppl on here don't like him, but he is a special players that's wins the ruck with or without the ball, now if you know your league you will understand what I'm saying

Are you talking about Blair? I haven't seen him do anything "special" this year. He was outplayed and outclassed by Fulton in all aspects of the game this year. He never "won" anything this year let alone a ruck.

I was filthy on Blair this year but then when i heard he played all year with a bad achilles which meant he couldnt train properly and he had no power to push off the ground i realised he showed great heart to play through injury knowing everyone was giving him a.hard time I expect the old Blair back next year.

Imo Blair is best in comp at sneaking fast ptb's and equal to Cam Smith in slowing down attackers by wrestling.

He is a storm niggler and very good at it….if he gets his running game goin he will be tops!

Once upon a time maybe. This season he tried shoulder charging that Martin Bella could step around. If he did manage to get the player to ground he would get pinged for hands on the ball or a leg pull. Those techniques worked 5years ago worked. The refs look for it and the players milk it.

Grrrr, you would me up. I'm hittin the RSL!!!

First Ive heard of this.
Did he come here with this injury?
I know Keith had/has a toe problem which gives him " no power to push off the ground "

For the most part imo he was quite unimpressive

wow i wasn't aware of this either , a good off-season is what is required . Might see Blair a different player next year .

_Clair_ was the bargain buy of the year.
His tearaway courageous runs & brickwall defence reminded me of Sirro at his very best.
Surely Tigers should extend his contract now before another team steals him from us!

Likewise, this injury is news to me.

I've said this before, but he always looked to me to be looking for someone to run off him, but no one ever did.

To me, he is a class player who should come good for us in 2013\. Remember that even a player of Greg inglis' quality took a year to contribute much at Souths.

Its the end of the season..how quick people forget how useless Adam Blair was in the past season. I dont care about his reputation or the fact he has been VC of NZ….he played poor.

I watched him at the end of his season with Melbourne after he had been signed and I raised alarm bells then , because in the games I watched he did stuff all then.

The new coach is going to have him play a completely different style of game to what Sheens had him play. And if his form is still poor ..dump him to reserves..forget his salary .

Regardless of all the few little things he may have done on the field this season, Blair still did not do enough to earn himself test selection! And to add to that, if it wasn't for State Of Origin poaching all the Kiwi's, Blair really would have never even been close to test side selection, not even as a replacement!
