He looked the goods at this level, hope he can carry it on NRL level next year,I bet Braith hated commentating on this game, never mentioned he is playing at the WestsTigers next year, wonder why.

What are you on?

He did nothing but wrap him all game and said he cant wait for austin to join the tigers.

No he didn't,what game did you watch,I can't recall one time he mentioned this,he wrapped him, didn't mention 1 time he was coming to the Weststigers, neither did the other commentator.

Yes he did at the start and he when he scored his first try he hopes he will bring this step he did to the Wests Tigers and he said he was best on field during the game.

I agree he did fade in and out of the game….but what he did do was quality......bang on kicking game and a wicked left foot step.

IMO this kid is potentially a gun,

Interesting talk about him on a Panthers forum http://www.pantherpride.com.au/index.php/forum/penrith-panthers-nrl/883-blake-austin-signs-with-tigers
… Especially the bit about him helping out a local junior team. NRL needs some more decent guys.

Get a hearing-aid. They both mentioned where he would be playing next year.

Did you have a bad day HT?

No pretty good actually

Easts Tigers lost yesterday , my physio destroyed me today

Just can't understand why forum members get excited about fringe first graders who are in and out of games

For them to be effective at the elite level they should be killing it week in week out in NSW Cup

Nobody is lining him up for Origin or anything. Its mainly discussing the good things he does and his potential because its off season for us and there is basically nothing else Tigers related to discuss.

**For them to be effective at the elite level they should be killing it week in week out in NSW Cup**

it doesnt work like that…

in a fantasy world, yeah you're right, but there are other factors to consider, such as the players playing around him.

not every single 'effective' first grader 'killed it' in reggies.

austin has more than enough potential to be given the opportunity to play regular nrl.

Most don't but most do look awesome half the time and better than average the other half in reggies. Austin fits that category.

Tedesco on the other hand made NYC and reggies look like child's play.

If you have a good culture, even the crappiest of players can look good- for eg Melbourne.

The few games of nsw cup that I've watched- the culture seems to be of laziness.

I think there's a lot of untapped potential out there like others here have alluded to. Just cause Austin wasn't killing it in the lower grades doesn't mean he can't do well in the NRL under Potter. Just like poeple say that killing it in NYC doesn't equate to first grade brilliance. Fifita is a prime example, even jennings to some extent. I'm sure there are many others who just needed something to change, whether it be their team mates, the culture, the coaches or just a fresh start they might start killing it once they move.

The opposite clearly occured with Sandow.

Hundreds of kids have potential it comes down to hard work in the end and who wants it more

I don't know , his interview with Fittler with the fresh meat he seemed to be searching for easy options

No one can make it taking the easy options in the NRL

Happy Tiger Simona wasnt "killing it" in State Cup. Some players grow an extra leg when given a chance in the top grade. You cant predict who those guys are, its just trial and error.

I remember Ben Galea wasnt anything great in reserve grade vut played much better in the top grade

As stated when we signed him I think Austin is an absolute gun.

Like all players of his age though he needs that polish in terms of consistency and decision making. I believe Brooks really suits his skill set as a halves partner also.

Moltzen is the unknown quantity in all of this. A shot at 5/8 without Marshall around and the opportunity to be that ball runner.

Austin is a better physical presence and defender but it will be an interesting battle
