If we are able to change players around like Rochow and Thompson to be fairly decent players, I have no doubt in my mind Austin will come good. No idea where he will play though.
Unlike most, I still want Tui in the #1 jumper and highly doubt Marshall will retire at the end of the year. If so, he can slot right in with Nathan Cleary as the future halves pairing, although I believe he could do well as a ball playing centre sort of like Jamie Lyon/Croker player. All I know is we are carrying too many halves and not enough centres/second rowers.

Let me say it again.
For the moment i think Reynolds is our 5/8.
Marshall and Tui are the next go to options.
Gamble is a super talent but i see him as utility at this early stage of his career, he will most likely have to wait until mid season to get a chance.
People read what they want to read sometimes.

When you have Reynolds on the books long term, have Marshall playing well, have a young back up in Gamble and another reliable option in Lolohea you dont go out and get another 5/8

He could play 1 or 4 for us especially if Cleary has coached him previously. A genuine NRL player of this standard should always be welcomed more so when he resurrected his career at WTs. If true, let's hope Ricky pays some of his contract.

However I think Ivan is playing money ball with mid priced NRL players that have the attitude and drive he wants. With A lot of these players he seems to have good inside knowledge on what makes them tick. It’s a good time to approach Austin as his been dropped and still has more to offer at NRL level for a few years to come.
We many have a similar situation of Rochow Benji and Thompson making the starting side. While Milne, McQueen, Grant, Sue in Reggie’s and Reynolds, Liddle, Lolohea on the sidelines.
Maybe Austin or Reynolds may spend time in ISP but however plays 1sts will be playing the way Ivan wants and at 100%. I’m sure if Austin joins us he is aware of this.
