Blake Ayshford to The Sharks?

Funny, I have always rated guys like Stuart Mills, Gordon and Stapylton yet for some reason they can't get a go at sharks, who continually look elsewhere for talent. I would take any of the listed….particularly Mills who is lightning on his feet and impressed in a state cup game I watched recently.

I always felt like something unexpected could happen when Blake ran with the ball, he is not fast but is hard to pull down. Sorry to see him go if true.

It's funny how on their forum they say things like 'why bother developing our juniors when we just have the Tigers doing it for us'

Isn't that a bad look on their club??

I think it reflects very badly on the system the NRL has for junior development. What's the incentive to develop juniors if other teams who don't bother contributing to the grass roots of the game can just poach them from you?

Id like to see a financial reward go the the club that develops the player, like a capped transfer fee of some kind.

Have you even seen these guys play before? I'd take Lote, Utai and Moltzen over them any day.

Just shows how our team from a few years ago were more interested in playing with mates then winning.

Thats exactly right, but you cant blame cronulla for that smart move from them

It won't be the last and its okay, except the way this clique at the sharkies do it, will remove the required attention the footballers need to concentrate on what they are doing.Unless modern footballers concentrate 100% on their game, they won't be able to give the best of themselves on game day.Like Benji who would think of the footy show ahead of what was going to do, what t wear and what to say and how to behave instead of the game against the sharks.Likewise the influence on guys will distract them off their games. Our players need to be careful on this distraction. I am not surprised as I write people like Beau Ryan and othe ex players of the West Tigers will be doing all the distraction on our current players and the young ones which I won't be surprised.

As I mentioned in another thread, Blake requested a release and his manager shopped him around to the other 15 clubs for an immediate switch with no takers.

If the sharks have signed him it would have only eventuated within the last couple of days.

Hoping this is the outside back they are signing from us, and not Simona!

A merger team of panthers, tigers and sharks would be pretty cool. I think Danny galea has played for all 3

The Sharks announce that they have agreed to terms with Wests Tigers centre Blake Ayshford for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
Ayshford, who debuted in the NRL back in 2009 and has played 99 games in the top grade, adds to the depth and talent in the Sharks backline for next season.
The 25-year-old Ayshford has played in 11 matches this year and was involved in 23 of the Tigers 24 NRL games in 2012\. He has scored a total of 33 tries in those 99 NRL appearances.
Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was understandably pleased to have acquired the 190cm, 100kg outside back for the next two seasons.
“We have brought some quality players to the club over the past few seasons and Blake is another one we are excited about having here at the Sharks,” Flanagan said. “We look forward to him being a part of our team next year.”
The signing of Ayshford complements the Sharks retention of a number of key players from their current roster, including Todd Carney, Anthony Tupou and Ricky Leutele, while they will continue to be aggressive in the player market over the coming weeks and months.

Officially signed with the Sharks for two years. Looks like it will be easier to keep Simona now.

Disappointing if he has moved on. Lawrence is the weak link in the backline these days with his lack of speed and lateral movement. He is the one we really should have tried to move on. Now it seems like we have a whole heap of wingers and not much depth in the centres.

Simona is a centre by trade and I believe Nofoaluma can play centre also.

Ayshford is no significant loss. We desperately need some speed there and he does not provide it, nor can he set up his winger at all, unlike Lawrence.

Nofo, Simona and Richards all play centres too.

1\. Teddy
2\. Big T
3\. Nofo
4\. Simona
5\. Koroibete

In 2015/16 I'm thinking

So, we're likely to be paying a chunk of his salary for 2 years right? Anyone know how much aysh was on at the tigers?

Saw some chatter on some other sites so I got in touch with a connection of mine
Can't reveal the source but he's in the sharks top 17….
I'm sure some one can put two and two together and figure out who it is.

Anyways, back to the topic.
Blake Ayshford plans to seek a release and join fellow ex team mates and friends Beau, Chris & Bryce (+etc) at The Sharks 2014 and beyond.

Tim Simona isn't the one they're after and they've been in talks with Blake for some time.

Thoughts?

Your the man. See here is somebody that got it right :master:

Just passing on some info I got that turned out to be correct

Well done demps…. I take it given he sought a release that we don't carry any of his contract for 2913 &2015???
