Blake Ayshford - very impressed

I think his defense was close to perfect last night. He came inside on more than a couple occasions to make some extremely important tackles. I had a feeling that all the talk in the media as to whether he would play or not would put added pressure on him to deliver but man did he stand up

If it wasn't for Ayshford paying special attention to Dugan we would not be playing next week, Dugan cut us up and Blake must have tackled him 10 times after others had fallen off.

All I read on this forum was people criticing Ayshford a few months ago. Glad he's proved those people wrong.

I honestly believe it Bon. I think alot of the chopping and changing in the halves hurt the cohesion of our defence as a whole. He did make some poor defensive reads but in balance I think he has been great all year. Ever reliable and always making the important metres out of our own end.

In saying that the growth at the back end is obvious. He is feeling more comfortable by the look of it and more and more of his ball playing abilities will come through in time

to each their own i guess.
i've said pretty much nothing on ayshford, brown and daniella all year,as i wanted to see how they went over a full season.
especially brown and daniella as i hadn't really noticed them at their previous clubs seeing as i only watch tigers games.
but all 3 have shown growth over the course of the year and proven their worth to the team.

I think blake has really matured the last 5 weeks he has more confidence, & having a regular half & five eight inside of him really helps, but also the kid is only 20 @ the most & is still growing & gaining in confidence.

Has been playing awesome, which he needed to because his spot was and should have been under pressure. He looks so hard to tackle, but sometimes I wish he removed his blinkers and realised that he can offload after one of his half breaks - he doesn't need to do it all.

His spot was never under pressure I can assure you! That was just Sheens giving him a rev up!

Daniela & Brown are miles behind him in the pecking order! He has been as safe as Lawrence all year!

Agreed. Glad someone else noticed. He seemed to make it his personal mission to mark Dugan and thank goodness he did.

I admit I had my doubts about him at stages of the season but I think Blake has really stood up in the finals. His defence is much better, he's been strong in attack, and made good decisions.

Hope he can keep his form up.

My thoughts also…..

I had a few heated arguments about this kid with some of my mates. I have huge wraps on him…he is only 20 and could develope into a very very good player. I noticed today that Croker from canberra was named in the kangaroos train on squad, which does get cut, but I believe that if he keeps up his finals form he should be also named into the squad.
