Blake Lazarus

Yes prove himself at NRL level.

The NYC competition is a joke as far as a pathway to the NRL

Blake has at least 3 months of State Cup football next year to get his fitness and confidence up before he is even considered for an NRL slot.

He is a much better half than Moltzen in regard to organising a structure and I feel that is where he would best serve the side in the future.

Lui has talent but lets be realistic he has yet to prove himself regardless of his natural ability.

I agree. And if he even plays first grade at all next year it will be a massive achievement.

I know people are giving him wraps, but thats just putting false hope onto those who havent seen him which will lead to Blake being unfairly criticised when he doesnt excell staright away. He's about 18 months of solid football away from reaching anywhere near his potential. 2 knee reconstrucions in 2 years is a massive hurdle, we should be saying nothing about Blake other than good luck and take your time mate, listen to your body and be patient.

It's definitely going to take Blake awhile to get back into the groove of things out on the field. I just hope that he can stay injury free and gradually get his confidence and form back as he goes.

I think Lazarus should start out in Premier League next year. By the time Round 1 rolls around it will have been almost 2 years since he's played a competitive game of football, Reggies will help him ease his way back. I'd start the season with Hanbury or Mullaney at the back.

Didnt he play some pre season games this year?

I disagree there have been plenty of players make it from nyc to nrl and be a success. Have a look!
I like the NYC Comp and I think it is good for the game imo!

Yeah I think so. But they don't really classify as competitive games. Even with them, he's spent a long time out of the game, so it would be wise to let him ease his way back in.

It's good to watch but the standard is pretty low. It's evident in the blowout scorelines that it's nowhere near first grade level. You get games that are 48-36 rather than 18-12 sorta thing. Plus big props like Andrew Fifita (scoring 1-2 tries per game .. for a prop!) and guys like Simon Dwyer are killing it in the 20s against less developed defenders and guys who havent grown into their bodies yet. That's why a handful of the 20s from this year should be in the state cup next year to see how they go against older, more experienced guys. Take Wayde Dunley for example. He got the Tigers Toyota Cup player of the season last year but has been very ineffective when playing for Wests this year.

Lazarus should start at fullback during the trials next year. See how he goes. He is quite skillful. We have a few other options if it doesn't work out. Lazarus is also an option in the halves if we get an injury there.

Agreed…..more and more whether it's good or not...time will tell.....better if they lifted it to 23 and allowed say 6 overage players per side......

Sides that turn up for 70 min in D as Wests Tigers have at the back end of the season should go deep into the finals......

Plenty of players form the under 20's have come into firsts and shone straight away…..Dugan,Stapleton,Locke,Croker off the top of my head.

And Dwyer went prett damn well when he came into firsts.

I think "agendas" are bending reality a little.

Lazarus is alright but nothing special. A few on here are 'mates' with him and therefore think the sun shines out of his you know what

To be fair people besides his close friends have rated him highly.

Lazarus is described as fullback/halfback.

Seeing as Moltzen has had nearly a full season at fullback would it make sense to try Lazarus at halfback and keep Moltzen at FB? Or did Lazarus show more at FB than Moltzen?

Lazarus was the original fullback in the NYC last year before his injury made Moltzen into one, and he was KILLING IT. Barring the worst luck of all time Lazarus WILL be a regular firstgrader in 2010.

if we are going to keep "trying" fullbacks and halfbacks we will keep missing the top 8\. we need to pick a 1 and 7 to stick with our current 6 and 9 and keep 1,6,7,9 the same players all season.
no use chopping and changing every few weeks.
benj, moltz and robsta killed it in the 6,7 and 9\. now gallant is gone, laz should slot straight into the number 1 and we will have an excellent quartet in the most important positions.

I'm not his mate ….I can only go on how I've seen him play....he is a talented youngster with skill and potential...he has a football brain....if he can come back injury free he will be pushing hard for a first grade spot....
