This will be worth 10 pages over on the Magpies forum…

A sly dig, Yoss? Yet you cant handle the *obligatory Ben Elias insult*. Had a look at the old Balmain Leagues Club lately? :crazy

The two things are unrelated. I don't know if you check-in on that other place but they do a nice line in offensive Balmain bashing over there. As I've said I'm not taking a crack at the Wests Magpies club or any of its players. It's not a matter of "can't handle" it's the personal digs at former players that have no basis in fact. I've never bagged out Campbelltown or (AFAIK) bagged out the history of the Magpies or taken pleasure in any problems they've had. I don't always agree with what they want or their view of things but I'm able to separate the opinions of some from the club itself. Meanwhile people like you can't help dancing for joy about the issues with the leagues club. If you really think my "dig" is comparable to the kind of vitriol that has gone on (in both directions) than you have my sympathies.

Every second thread becomes a battle between the Tigers and the Magpies,it gets bloody boring. The joint venture was the bet thing to happen for both clubs in years and their are still people who want to destroy it.Move on and get over it

surely he has been signed so he can leverage off his media work to drive publicity for the club. makes sense to me.

Who gives a crap about Western Suburbs or Balmain any more - I bet neither of them win an NRL game next year

Raudonikus great player, ordinary coach, way past his prime when it comes to talking about the game .
Block could help put some much needed mongrel into our pack .

As a balmain fan I have tol laugh how you crap on a wests Legend but then in the same breath you talk about former tiger legend but avid dimwit roach like hes a good appointment.Your comment just like yossarians a little earlier is the exact reason there is a wests/balmain divide.Tommy raudonkiks played about 30 times for Australia and captained Australia on a number of occasions he coached NSW TO SUCCESS in origin and took a Wests side to the semis in 1996 who ricky stuart or wayne bennett would of struggled getting them anything but a wooden spoon.Tommy was never in a prime when it came to talking about a game but one look of tommys eyes when he commanded you was stronger than A million "words" froma Brian smith or tim sheens.Put simply there are talkers and there are leaders and Tommy was,is and will always be a leader.Blocker was a legend of the game also but to talk about one in glowing terms and to dump on the other guy "from the darkside" is kindergarten stuff.P.S I am a balmain fan so dont try to blame it on some "anti Western suburbs paranoia".

Show me where im endorsing Blocker ?i just said he could instill a bit of much needed mongrel into our pack.Have you ever sat down with either of these guys and talked football?tOMMY took a good Wests side in 96 to one of the worst ever football sides ever to play in the top grade so talk fact and not the crap your going on about . Read WHAT I SAID , Tommy was one of the best footballers ,was tough and had a good head for the game , so was junior pearce and wally lewis ,but being a great player dosent make you a great coach.and like i said show where i talk about Blocker in glowing terms .ItS GUYS LIKE YOU WHO START THEW WESTS V BALMAIN DEBATES ,many in here can tell you i support the Wests Tigers and never get involved in the petty us versus them crap .

It wasnt your endorsement of Roach that was in question it was the fact that you dump on raudonikis who despite being from the "darkside"has achieved more as a player and as a coach than roach yet you say Roach could add mongrel to this pack. What has roach done in the last 20 years besides fail as a waterboy at manly. You are seemingly blind to your own Balmain buyist.I aint.

1/4 is an old Magpie fella. I'm just going to say it, from your few posts in this thread, i think its clear that you are really a Magpie fan going under the disguise of being a Balmain fan. The type of behavior certain dinosaurs on another forum would do, as they have done it before. And they have even given it to ex-Magpie fans on here thinking they were from the ''other side'' (seriously how could anyone not realize Balmain Bugs agenda), and now you are seemingly doing it to 1/4

Please take note of this: Just because people aren't kissing the pies backside or are seemingly in your opinion talking negatively about them or past players doesn't necessarily mean they are from the ''other side''. Believe it or not they would rather focus on the WT :astonished: (1/4 is an example)

Please take that back to the Pies forum with you. Thank you

And at Christmas Goodwill to all Men, especially those Balmain and West Supporters who have been at each other since 1999.

I think you're a woman who dresses as a man.Calling me a magpie fan in the disguise of being a balmain fan.your conspiracy theories are ridiculous he who sees ufo's and pink martians daily. How the hell can this whole Wests and Balmain grudge end when we have people like you making such ridiculous assumptions like its truth. Now why do you continue to character assasinate Balmain bug at every opportunity I havent seen that guy post once for years.P.S enlighten me what was his agenda, and what is this pies forum you talk of?

Back on topic please, and leave the Balmain V Wests crap out of it. It's irrelevant to this thread.

Using some people's logic we can only bring past players who have played for both sides of the joint venture

I then suppose the issue with these same people would be if they played 3 more game for one of the jv clubs than the other ….....

Look , most clubs in the NRL would be quite happy to bring someone on board with Blocker's experience We complain because he is from one side of the merger

Deluded logic anyone :crazy

You must have a right good chuckle at these threads mustn't you Bluebag, given the nature of the poor old Jets demise.

Seriously, how do threads on job appointments degenerate into this banal crap? First it was Thomas being appointed State Cup coach, and now it's Blocker being given some inane role within marketing… FFS give it a rest!

Blocker does have a prettygood cv.

Test matches,origins,gf's….

And he has coached and is on tv and radio.

Not forgetting he played a zillion games for the mighty tigers.

Def someone we want on our side who has some media clout!

Think you'll find he's there to put it to the forwards… think aggression and mongrel.
I loved him as a player and have met him on more than a few occasions where (i'm sorry to say) I couldn't say I particularly thought that highly of him.
Regardless of that players respect he was a tough guy in a tough era and he doesn't pull punches when it comes to giving his opinion.
I bet you won't be hearing our pack called soft more than once this year , if ever.

I'd prefer to see him kept as far away from the coaching side of things as possible. Hopefully all it will be is him carrying on a like a buffoon in a media role (which is what it appears it will be, thankfully)

I agree with you GNR, although I'd hope he's kept away from a microphone/camera altogether. Won't happen in the role he's purported to have landed though.

I see little to no value in him….just another in a long line of once respected forwards to turn into a blithering fool in front of a mic/camera

I would be much happier if the person was Paul Sironen. Now hes a leader of men.A long time policeman and businessman who has a good grasp of how to succeed in life through hardwork, smarts and can do it with leaving an imprint of style and substance.Benji was down the star casino the other night playing poker (with robbie farah Ill add) and he was off his face. Not making an idiot of himself however but plenty wasted cause he was slurring his speech big time and fumblin chips chronic. The reason I write this is because two tables behind him was paul sironen keeping a good eye on them with these two drunks not even realising it.I understand they have time off so they can drink but you could just tell Sirro who has a very well behaved kid(met him plenty of times)no tatts and always politely spoken(but is Just like his dad on the field re ferocity) nows how to nurture young men ala Wayne Bennett.Roach is a dimwit two cent comedian.Great heart Roach has but Sirro is the leader of men.Roach aint.

My Father-in-law taught Paul Sironen in high school many years ago. Said he was always well behaved and had a good head on his shoulders. As for Blocker, while I think he's prone to making some pretty ill-informed comments, I'll reserve judgement until I see him in action for the WT, depending on what his role encompasses.

Not much info about what he is actually doing is there, I've only seen Mayers tweet.

Maybe the role is tailor made for an old meat head prop who can spin a yarn with the old boys club?
