BMM may leave us

So many people calling for him to be let go, yet we are playing Bodene in the second row ahead of BMM? Laughable.

BMM will be another Fifita, he will flourish elsewhere.

He may well flourish somewhere else but it sure seems like he won't do it here.

Yet the likes of Thompson and Blair are flourishing?

I feel Thompson is doing quite a solid job. He's not too explosive by any means but is still quite young in his career and is developing as a backrower after starting it as a centre.
Blair is a more finished product and doesn't do much wrong. People are just unhappy and what we are paying him.

But both are different prospects to BMM who has been in the system for a few years and is clearly behind these two at the club. The other 2 are playing first grade, BMM is not.

Thompson has been bog ordinary, he has had about three good games since joining us. That is not "solid".

BMM obviously has issues with his training and his hands, but he was excellent at the back end of last year and should be persisted with.

Thompson has played 10 games or so for us anyway. 3/10 not bad.

He's been very surprising this season. Played full 80 both games and defended strong.

Thompson obviously impressed more than BMM in the pre season and now it's up to BMM to win that spot back.

Sometimes an employer needs to cut their loses…

Shame though as BMM has the attributes to make him an absolute star on the field.

Is it bad to say …. If he does leave, I hope he doesnt flourish??

Fifita Esk

Maybe?

Its just part of football and I hope everyone who leaves plays well. This is there careers not ours.

Some other young kid will come through the system and we will cheer for him just the same.

It's hard with BMM. He has one good game in ten, but in that one game he looks amazing. Seems to disappear in all the others. He'd flourish at Newcastle under Bennett given some of their ageing forwards are due to retire soon.

My only hope is he doesn't go to Cronulla. ANYONE BUT THEM.

Again, not surprised an article like this would surface after he is not picked in the team.

The onus is on BMM to fire up and work hard to get back into the team.
Unfortunately it seems like anytime he takes a big hit up he follows it up with a knock on playing the ball.

I'm not that keen to see him kept around on the possibility of him reaching potential, its been how many years of waiting now?

A few good games a year isn't enough anymore IMO.

We need to persist with guys like this. We are not a buying club, so we should not be in the business of casting aside our own ones with talent. Yes he has been a let down at this stage of his career. however his celling as a player is very high.

The coach needs to get him motivated and happy. Once those things are in place and the teams starts winning games all of a sudden we night have a gun back rower. A position where we are LIGHT on quality.

I agree. If we are not going to buy outside our club, we need to keep some of these good young players. It is great that we have already signed a lot of these youngsters.
I'm sure BMM will get his chance to play in the top grade before too much longer, but if he's not happy here he should take another offer I hope not though 😕

The biggest thing with BMM is that he is EXACTLY the type of player we usually buy from another club. Someone with a heap of potential who for whatever reason hasn't reached it yet. Paterson, Austin, gavet and to a lesser extent Taupau are all examples of this. To release him would be absolutely ridiculous. If he was say a player at penrith who had been in and out of first grade for 3 years, is bet any money we would be trying to sign him

His debut was in 2010 and he has played 52 games of NRL

When do we draw the line as far as potential is concerned ??

As far as I'm concerned , this should be his last season if he can't cut it

He was our best player at the back end of last yr. He was finally showing that he could cut it and was looking like he was reaching his full potential. Now 6 months later people are saying he has to go cos he still hasn't shown anything. I don't get it.

Sorry GNR , I just don't see it in BMM

And it looks like Potter may be in agreeance His hands let him down in traffic way too often and it appears he may have fitness and commitment issues

He has everything we need in a second rower , but still doesn't get a start in our Top 17

That says a lot in my opinion

I would argue that if BMM was at his best end of last season, it's the same coach and same structures he is working in, so his inability to be selected 2014 is either related to his ongoing performances or the introduction of superior talent in his positions.

Yep, another great idea from the peanut gallery!
Yer, he has just turned 23 get rid of him he's to old, why waste our time with him?????
Peanuts!!
He just needs to mature as a footballer, at least every time he hits the line he almost breaks through, he's damaging look at Blair and bodene never look like breaking the line.
This is a player we need!!
Have him running of brooks, he will come good!
Two weeks ago he and the haircut won us the state cup game, scored and set up tries!!
Just get rid of Blair there's some money!!
Remember you guys were the same lot, telling us to get rid of fafita as he is to lazy, runs side ways, no loss, etc, etc

x 2 .. i reckon bmm has plenty of ability and plenty to offer. bmm needs to show potter that he should be one of the first forwards every week. as a coach potter needs to get bmm back on track and in the right frame of mind. give him incentivation mick !

I think he could be a great talent but if he has a bad attitude and doesn't pull his weight or is lazy what ever the reason is he can't make the first grade side maybe he needs a change of scenery to reach his potential, but who knows what the reason is

Talent and potential, unfulfilled, that is BMM. He needs to work harder to get selected. When he is going well, he can breaak a few lines.

i like him but as has been pointed out, if he is not doing all the right things then maybe he should go? i still have no issue with fifita leaving - i dont think he had a good attitude at the time and wasnt good for the team as a whole.

with how gavet, taupau, ava, etc. have been going maybe they could offload him and pick up a decent centre?
