Bodene Thompson to leave Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that Bodene Thompson will not play with the Club for the 2015 season.

Thompson and Wests Tigers had agreed to terms for the coming two seasons but the 26 year old has since informed the Club of his desire to move away from Sydney for family reasons.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Jason Taylor thanked Thompson for his time at the Club.

“On behalf of the Club I’d like to thank Bodene for his efforts and commitment during his time here,” said Taylor. “While we would have loved to have had Bodene here at Wests Tigers again next season I can understand his need to be close to his family and wish him the best for his playing future with the Warriors.”

Thompson joined Wests Tigers prior to the 2013 season, playing 36 games for the Club since then, scoring seven tries.

So sad to see him go. I'll never forget the moment when he slapped the WT logo on his shirt after scoring. ALL THE BEST BODENE!!!!!

That's unfortunate for the club. He was developing into a pretty handy edge player.

Can't hold anything against the guy going home, or even if he got a better deal considering he wasn't contracted for 2015\. What is a major worry is some of our best players from 2014 choosing the leave - Austin and now Bodene, that following Tedesco wanting to leave but eventually staying last year. Not a good sign when that many good players want to leave your club, rather than being forced out because we can't fit them in

Very dissapointed to hear this, however the warriors have obviously come in with a last ditch higher offer (apparently they are releasing bukuya to the sharks). We've now lost bodene, fulton and Paterson from last season. Our edge is looking very shaky.

You'd imagine sironen and akauloa will be our starting back rowers next year. Unless Taylor is signing someone or going to use sue/Blair wider. Also gives santi, Lovett, funaki etc a chance to step up.

Real question is why didn't we re-sign Thomson earlier?

Friggin brilliant. All one way traffic at the moment, and mostly players that made an impression during 2014\. Next year is looking very dark.

All the best at the Warriors Bodene…..played well for us this year

They had agreed terms. Bodene was the one who brushed us. You can't blame WTs

Spot on Alf…...nothing the Wests Tigers could do...

“While I enjoyed my time with Wests Tigers and have plenty to thank them for, coming home to New Zealand is something I always wanted to do.”
