Easy solution - put Origin to bed :astonished: It's a dying concept now anyway - same media hype, same BS, same inept selections and same results every year. Winning a premiership and playing for your country should be the ultimate.

Oh and yes Happy, I do remember Wayne having a bit of a whinge when he was at the Broncos, now. You probably would have heard it more up in Queensland though, I imagine.

Yeah you would think there are only 3 teams in the comp reading the paper or watching news . Well 4 now with Benny going to Knights

Do something like this each origin weekend

Friday Night: New Zealand vs England (3 game series)
Saturday Night: Pacific Islands Round Robin (Samoa, PNG, Tonga and Fiji), 2 games a night, play everyone once, with the final on the Australia/NZ weekend which happens after origin)
Sunday: State of Origin.

Start origin Have the origin games between Round 7/8, 10/11 and 13/14, have a 4th weekend with no games for Aus/NZ and Pacific Nations final between rounds 16/17, then starting round 17 have your last 10 rounds and the finals. The poms would agree to that scheduling, they need this kind of series (against NZ) to start to close the gap, playing Wales and France is doing nothing for them).

What ever happens just don't stop the comp for 3 weeks for origin, it is completely unfair to all players and clubs who are not from origin represented areas, you lose all match fitness and momentum.

I reckon that the week before origin that the play a game on thurs,2 friday,3 sat and give 4 teams a bye, this lets players play the weekend for there clubs and have between 6 days if you played thursday and 4 if you played on saturday and gets them into camp on sunday morning. For this to work you would need to name the team than have shadow players for all positions incase of injuries.

Oh well, that's what Origin does to teams, costs them 2 competition points for 3 weeks. Just thankful we don't have anybody representing in Origin because I am adamant we would've lost to the Panthers at Cambo three weeks ago had we not had possible representatives like Farah, Heighington, Dwyer, Fifita or Galloway. And again yesterday, they had their full strength team and if we hadn't of, we would've definitely lost.

Why's Wayne bringing this issue up now? I mean, he was coaching Brisbane around the '02,'03,'04 period when they lost about a dozen players to representative duties.
