Braith Anasta

5/8 or lock. Only an idiot would play him at halfback.

He was heading towards half with Sheens I feel..He wont play 5/8, so that leaves lock..I cannot see him being a full time lock…we need backrowers with size and( or ) speed , thats if are not a defensive backrower.

I am not sure were he fits in...part time lock I think now.

Former club captain ousted with plenty to prove, former NSW origin player.
..

I'm happy he is here

True you watch Mick Potter will make him a good lock and he will be one of the best buys next season just give him a chance and he has a cheap contract anways.

Deep down I am sure most people would agree that he will be a much, much better than Adam Blair was in 2012\. at least he will put in the effort during every game.

One of the most committed players to lace on a boot and a great ambassador on and off the field. This can only be good for WT. I reckon Anasta will get a new lease of life with the change of club, also. I'm really looking forward to seeing him play with us next season.

Anasta will be a good 13 for us,and he is not a little bloke either,he is as big as most backrowers.

i think this thread was for positives, so i willl keep the negatives out.

apart from the "stability", "kicking game" etc. i think he brings a new perspective, fresher idea so to speak.
we recruit new players every year, but anasta is someone people respect, when he talks, you will listen. i think he will be a great asset to potter.. a way of communicating to the team for potter through the use of anasta. i think potter and anasta will tend to be on the same page most of the time.

ofc it could go blue and he ends up being an old hack who keeps his place in the team depsite all the criticism, performance etc.. tbh in the 1-13.. i cant find a spot for anasta.

I agree with all those who have said that he is a great player, organiser, kicker….

Just, somebody tell me where he fits into the team. Half, surely not. 5/8, do the words 'Benji Marshall' ring a bell? Lock, not with Fulton in the run-on side as well. Come on, where are you going to play him?

I still think he was a knee jerk signing after Moltzen at halfback didn't work out. We had plenty of fullbacks in the club at the time he was moved - Humble, Brown, Ryan etc. yet thought the best thing was to get Moltzen out of the halves. Sheens thought he needed something for next season and bought Anasta. Then he gave Sironen a run and he went well, making the Anasta signing useless.

The way Tigers supporters are bagging Braith Anasta is getting ridiculous he is now a part of our team you need to deal with it. He is capable of stuff and is a game breaker at times people have been bagging him on facebook and twitter also some on this forum.

wrong

In comparison to the vitriol poor ole Timmy Moltzen receives, Braith is being feted like a God.

im happy with this signing. he will add good leadership on and off the field. he will also be a better lock than heighington
11\. blair
12\. fulton
13\. anasta
14\. pettybourne
15\. thompson
16\. BMM

The problem with that pack is go-forward. We get great momentum from the front row but we will need Blair to be hitting it up like a prop to cover for the fact that Fulton and Anasta can not. In defence they will be solid, but in attack they dont do the hard dirty meters so will need to be compensated for, which is exactly the problem we have always had with our backrow. I dont believe that Fults and Anasta can be in the same run on team. As I said in another thread, our run on pack need to be aggresive and stamp some sort of authority.

Maybe for a trial, try putting both these boys on the bench, start with a back row of Blair, Pettybourne and BMM and send these 3 out with the express instructions to rip and tear for 15 minutes. Then bring Fults and Anasta on to try and split the ruck with their angled running and passing games. Repeat straight after half time. We need to change the way we play our forwards….this is outside the box but may work.

yeah you are probably right. I wouldn't sub both fulton and anasta out of the run on team though. I'd swap one of them for pettybourne to start. i like BMM coming off the bench

No I wouldnt either for the season proper, maybe just a trial match to see whether the big bopper combo for the backrow would work. My preference is Anasta as the starting lock and Fulton on the bench for his versatility.

Anasta was always a danger player to be in the opposition team, I am glad he is now with WTs as others have said he offers experience, skill, a cool head and so on. I suspect he would be used as one of the teams direction setters along with Robbie and Benji and as such would be on the field for all or most of the game either in the halves or at lock.

I feel the same way about not starting with both Fults & Anasta as you've pointed out with the lack of go forward our back row has been able to get us in the past or hardly ever been able to dominate the opposition pack. As much as I admire Fults with what he provides us, I'd be starting with
11.Blair
12.Pettybourne
13.Anasta
Bench
Fulton,BMM,Bell,Sirro/Fotuaika/Thompson

If Miller does get first crack at half back it's going to be tough enough for him let alone if our forwards aren't continually getting us good metres.

Speaking to fans from the Bulldogs, Souths, Easts, St. George etc.

All say the Anasta will be a great buy. Wishing that they had got him. I tend to agree. Has a cool head, great kicking game, good defence and he rarely gets injured. Will be the first choice goal kicker and as we all know can kick a field goal. Seems to me like a very very good purchase.
