Braith Anasta

All say the Anasta will be a great buy. Wishing that they had got him. I tend to agree. Has a cool head, great kicking game, good defence and he rarely gets injured. Will be the first choice goal kicker and as we all know can kick a field goal. Seems to me like a very very good purchase.

I doubt Anasta will be first choice goal kicker. Unless you've heard or read something different.

He should be

Anasta 76.6% over Marshalls 71.2%

I'd go Anasta for goal kicking just to take pressure off Benji. Let him focus on in game kicking a bit so we have more options.

It would allow Marshall to be back over halfway with Miller & the team discussing the next set, what he wants and where he wants who,….while Anasta's convering

Always enjoyed mocking Zoolander.

Thought it would be hard to cheer for him.

Reality soon set in though that he is experienced, competetive and hardworking as well as a fine football player and good leader.

Made it easier

Benji has a better goal kicking % over Anasta for 2012 and Braith has only been a first choice goal kicker for the last 2 years.

Benjis % was dragged way down in 2009/10 which he kicked around 66%, but since then he has been quite good.

Benji is great from the sideline, I would let Braith kick the easier attempts- Benji tends to miss a few of the easier shots at goal

Cant we use them both in games when Braith Anasta is on he will take the kicks when his off Benji Marshall takes the kicks we have options thats a good thing.

One of the most committed players to lace on a boot and a great ambassador on and off the field. This can only be good for WT. I reckon Anasta will get a new lease of life with the change of club, also. I'm really looking forward to seeing him play with us next season.

Me too Flip, he will be one of our best players next season I am certain.
Just a little bit miffed about where Potter will play him, would have to be Lock? Maybe he will just be shuffled between Lock, Backrow and a little bit of 5/8 when needed.

But this is the question we should be asking ourselves in regards to Anasta

At 6 ,who do you want Anasta or Marshall ?? Answer Marshall

At 13 ,Who do you want Anasta or Fulton /Bell ?? Answer Fulton /Bell

At 7 ,who do you want Anasta or Miller ?? Answer Miller

At 11 or 12 ,who do you want Anasta v Blair ,BMM ,Bell /Fulton,Thompson ,Pettybourne ?? Answer Size ,Mobility and good Defence

I really want to find a fit for Anasta who does have many great strengths in his game ,but to put him in his key positions ( 6 or 13) he plays the Tigers will have to trade down and play guys who are better suited in those positions in roles which they aren't as strong at

If Benji was a better defender you could look at him playing in the centres outside Anasta , but he isn't so we can't

If we play Anasta at 11/12 we lose size and go forward that we can't afford to lose and if we play Anasta at 11/12 you can't pick Fulton either

Does anyone else have a solution ,because Happy can't see one

Regardless of who is the more accurate goal kicker.
On Ink's point alone I'd plump for Braith to be back over halfway with Miller and co discussing the next set.
With all due respect to Benji, when the little genius is at his best no one knows what he's up to …him included.
Braith's more your bread and butter general ...you know, barking obvious stuff like ...
"Cmon guys they've got nothing. Punch it pigs. Speed up the ruck we want to fast ball em down the guts. No sillies, just get to this next kick... Blake can you please stay awake out there buddy ...and for fffffs sake if the kick off goes near Moltz it's mine!"

That sort of thing ... Braith loves it.

Anasta fits in at lock for me with Fulton on the bench.

Fulton offers plenty to the side coming on midway through the first half and closing the game out being fresher tackling his ring off. While still offering options when taking on the line. Or Fulton starting in the backrow with Pettybourne providing impact off the bench.

I think you'll find that has more than a little bit to do with where they score thier trys, And where we score ours!!
That and Braith is a far more consistant footballer than Benj… And a better Kicker!!

Fulton is a waste on the bench imo

He either starts or leave him playing reggies

LaT so who are your second rowers with Anasta at lock ??

Knowing Blair will likely take one spot, I'd have either Pettybourne or Fulton in the other. I know Fulton offers little impact off the bench, but his defence and skill when taking on the line is where I see him helping us out.

It will be interesting to see what Potter does, as there is no clear cut route IMO. Plenty of options though.

Its just too hard to say at present where Anasta will fit.

I wouldn't be so quick to rule out 7\. Benji and 6\. Anasta as most have.

Not my preference but it would be the most experienced halves we've got and anything is possible until we get an idea on how Potter structures his teams.

Personally I'm leaning towards 7\. Marshall and 6\. Sironen with Anasta at lock. For some reason I just don't have much faith in Miller at this stage.

Its most likely that we are going to have players that have played very little (if any) footy together in both the halves and the back row. I think even Potter would be holding out until the trials before he pigeon holes anyone, Benji included.

Totally agree we have plenty of options

But not heaps of options that are standouts and having Fulton and Anasta in the back row isn't a good option in my opinion

Nice one!

Yep Braith will be good for egging the boys on and keeping them motivated and focused….we haven't had that since Prince left, he was great at it too
