Brandon Tumeth #266

The stay sharps have been out for Tumeth due to the top 30 position. If he was learning in the lower grades on T and T deal, he would not cop most of the crticism which comes his way. Feledy has also copped heavy criticism when he is learning to defend in the most difficult position in RL. Mason also copped a heap for not getting to bombs despite being a novice both in the NRL and at fullback. We need to give our young players time to develop.
The stay sharps I like it equivalent to the sharpest tools in the shed, you hit the nail on the head paws T&T describes the level Tumeth and Feledy are at, Mason top 30 I can live with he has shown much more potential for mine.

We need to be patient with forwards as many aren’t ready for first grade until around 23 years old when bodies have filled out and they’ve had some years in reserve grade getting conditioned to playing against men.

Tumeth activated an option for ‘25, which I suspect was in his favour.

We are short on 2RF’s and he showed a lot of promise as a junior playing origin for NSW 19’s I believe. Still plenty of time for him to develop.

No harm in keeping him on for the rest of his contract then offering a lower tier deal from next year to develop him at the appropriate pace.

I read Feledy defended well in the first game of the season and according to one of our forum members was the best of the backs yesterday. Benji introducing him to the NRL to know what level of performance is required has paid dividends. I hope he continues to work hard on his game because any centre who can find the try line as regularly as Feleday does is valued.

He cops a lot because he's in a position where we really need someone to step up right now. Both him and sukkar seem to be struggling. All of us would love to be wrong about him.

I wish there was growing left in his body more size would help for 1st grade a lot achieve his ability level but sadly just can't make the next step to a solid 1st grader the drop off is huge, happy to persist and hope he succeeds but Faataape is in front of him at the moment.

If latu holds a spot in first grade , feledy will grow in value exponentially as their combination is awesome

Praying Makasini reaches the level expected with the extension he has been given, this is the predicament you face with outstanding juniors coming through you can only hope Richo and Benji can read it right, comments are very promising about his size and speed though, can't wait to get a look at him in 1st grade will be patient only when he's ready.

100% correct it’s not there fault our previous management offered them top 30 deals prior to them been ready
No one’s blaming them . They deserve their money . But the roster spot is not guaranteed , and as they’re in the final year of thier contract , and on close to minimum wage , I don’t see the issue with getting rid of them at this point in the season.
And what is thier fault , from what I hear about Tumeth in particular , is he was offered a renegotiated contract to include 26 on a reduced roster spot , and refused to negotiate .
Sure you can take that route , and you’re fully entitled to, but you can’t claim a narrative of the club screwing you/ it’s not my fault , when you have been offered an alternative to suit everybody .
That’s where the whole thing gets dicey .

Yeah I recall him making a good read and tackle when they shifted it early. He was totally out of his depth on debut but he looked better last season in the NRL. Seems a nice kid.

Yep, Richo said late last year if he had to they would pay out one or two of the 30 x spots to free up spots for recruiting others if needed. Obviously Tumuth probably is one and potentially Doueihi / Naden others. Tumuth has done nothing and has to be the first paid out if/as needed. Having said that h stil has time to show something in KOE but he hasnt shown anything to date in terms of standing out and open to the next level of NRL.

Need to stop jumping at shadows and stop signing all these kids to stupid contracts that gift them an NRL top 30 spot… we got rid of 2 for this year already and still have too many

Faatape is also 4 years older at 24 then Feledy at 20. Feledy could still be playing Flegg this season. He has show. He can attack and his defence looked much improved in the first trial. I'd def persist with Feledy for 26 if he continues to improve this year - too often we have let players go too early who have gone onto success elsewhere. With backs keep them until at least 22 and forwards it can be 24-25 till they hit their straps

I get that but Twal and Seyfarth cop it here for that reason. They can defend but offer nothing with the ball.

Tumeth really wasn’t asked outside of fitness wise. He did nearly get snapped in half a few times I thought - looks very undersized.

But it’s good experience and right now we need to start seeing something around these kids coming through. It’s the hope afterall.
I am going to disagree on Seyfarth, Twal offers nothing with the ball and is a pound prop...

Seyfarth, can at least run aquwardly, and seems to be able to hit the line if he gets a good pass. Yes would be good if he could pass it on too, but it's something.

...

Overall were pushing Juniors without any plan or assistance. This isn't like when we bloodied Andrew Fifita, Aaron Woods and Matt Groat. We basically have Terrell May as our experienced forward and Twal as our club forward.

There is a difference between Tumeth, Feledy and Mason

Mason, sadly we will loose him at some point. However I am liking his playing style. Just solid, but he hasn't shown the flair that Hodges/Tedesco/etc have. I suspect it will come down to Mason vs Bula and we will choose Bula, but I like what I see.

Feledy keeps letting us down in a key position. Unlike Mason, Feledy is costing us games and can't continue in the side at the moment. Either send him to reserves or trade him out. I understand he is on reasonable coin too.

Tumeth... Congrats, all our other forwards and props have walked away. Welcome to first grade :/

Um you quoted something from over a year ago.

Shows how little they have evolved & also highlights that we have to look outside to actually bring in NRL quality into the team.

So much for that awesome crop of kids coming through being ready anytime soon.
