Breakout Star For 2011

what about Curtis?

big boy. great skills. and now that we lost piggy…. we need a kicker!

Definitely a talent but too young and has too many 5/8 in front of him for a FG spot. He's no guarantee to start in the season in the NYC as he's still eligible for Flegg.

Given his ability and how he finished off 2010 it's difficult to go past Murdoch. However as mentioned in this thread already, should TNT not return it could open up an opportunity for a back, maybe Jake Mullaney.

Yeah you're right there. Mullaney has a huge amount of potential and is way better than Ryan. Sheens could even switch him and Brown and put Mulls into fullback.

Chris Corby….

Ha ha ha - you & I both know it will be Schirnack if given a chance!!

Ben M-M is also a special to show his wares in 2011!!~

Hey Red….I was thinking the other day (worry I know) that Jason Schirnack Jnr is the Polar opposite of Todd Payten and as such would give us that little bit of extra MONGREL and PUNCH... we lack at times...

C'mon Sheens give him a crack....

Bash bro is one angry angry MAN....

Love Jason… I remember a game at Leichhardt against the Cowgirls a couple of years ago and they kept smashing our wingers and centres. Jason got involved and the 2 cowboys tried him and well..... Jason fixed that problem!!!

Jason Schirnack = Has the Aggression of Luke O'Donnell and the Utility Value of Dene Halatau???!!!

Hope he gets his go...

Penalties are so clstly in the modern game, can we really afford to have some one like Schirnack in the side, if he is as aggresive as everyone is saying.
The refs will be pretty quick to stamp that out. I'm all for controlled agression but if a penalty costs us then i think everyone will beall over him.

He plays with controlled aggression TT!! He was the back-up captain to Nicholls for NYC in 2009 - so he has never been considered undisciplined or thuggish!!! He could be a Michael Crocker type player for us (without the penalties)!

In my view he is similar to Dean Pay - who was as tough as they come - but far from dirty!!!

I think Matt Hyland could be the real deal if given the opportunity

Hyland just offers a high work-rate - which we already have in spades from Fults & Heighno!!

Schirnack & Ben M-M offer some genuine variation to our already very strong back-row!!

Schirnack was our best NYC forward throughout 2009 - and that team included the Fifita brothers, Woods, Dwyer, Hyland, Corby & Curran!!!

Big call, but I see Woods maybe leap frogging Fifita. I might be right off the mark but I think Fifita will be targeted in his second year and maybe might slip off the pace a little. Where I see Woods as a traditional hard slogging front rower with a big engine, but its only crystal ball stuff we should get a better idea in three months time

If Fifita can replicate his high work-rate defensive game for Tonga against Samoa at the end of season - he will become a first grade fixture!!

Woodsy is a tackling machine - but needs to do a bit of work on his yardage game! He is still only 19 - almost two years younger than Fifita!

I am cool TT!! I was not in the slightest bit annoyed when I made the post - it was just a clarification!

I didn't bag you (and I agree that we don't need any loose cannons) - I just assumed you had not seen much of him as a player!

Don't mistake my overt over-use of exclamation marks as aggression - sorry if you thought it was an attack (you'll certainly know if I am on the attack)!! Cheers!

Agree willow, all that and he's done his meniscus and could miss a chunk of the year….though with his name dont be surprised to see him fast tracked

Maybe we should formalise a scale for you… like this? haha

Not needed buddy - I am pretty bloody obvious when I am p***-ed off!!

ooooaaam oooaam …works for me..

I have never seen Jason Schirnack start a fight or purposley give away a penatly though thuggery either...

I have however seen him in the to protect a fallen team mate our just plain belt a bloke legitimately al la the Barb Dwyer hit on many an occasion...MONGREL...

I have also seen him PUNCH through defensive lines like a hot knife thru butter both at 20's and State Cup level..scored a try on debut in first grade too if memory serves...Bash Bro BOOM...impact

I've got my doubts as to whether Schirnack will get much of a go this year. He only made his debut last year due to Fulton falling ill just before kick off and we didn't see him near first grade for the rest of the season. I'm not knocking the bloke, he can definitely play, but I have doubts as to how high Sheens rates him in comparison to other backrowers at the club.

I voted for Schirnack. I haven't seen him play much but when I saw him he was unbelievable. I thought he made a lot more impact than Dwyer and I think Dwyer can play.

I like that fact that he can bust the line. It would give Benji / Lui & Moltzen another option.

I have no idea where you fit them all in.

That is the issue 05!

I have watched a heap of Jason - & to me he is the most exciting young back-row prospect that I had seen in the lower grades since Luke O'Donnell!

I would be devastated if he moves on before getting the chance to prove his worth - but the fact is we have an embarassment of riches in the entire forward rotation currently!!

However - if given the chance due to injury or whatever reason - I have no doubts he will prove hard to displace!

I went for BMM based on what I've been able to see of the listed players, but the nostalgic in me wants Curtis SIRRO to be playing NRL for the Wests Tiges before too long!!!!!!

im not sold on we having an embarrassment of riches in forward rotation.i think that tag lies sadly with souths.yes we do have forward depth for the first time ever basically.if we were the ones with the riches i think that saints semi was ours.
