I seriously doubt that Mayer 'let santi go' He would have offered both lovett and santi decent contracts, but since santi's only been here a year or two and was paid OVERS by the eels he chose them. I dont want santi if we're gonna be paying him a massive contract with no idea whether he'll be a Matt Groat or Aaron woods.

Santi looks to be twice the player that Lovett is at the moment IMO. Lovett hasn't shown a lot so far but the people who watch the WT NYC games regularly would be the best ones to make the call on who is better out of the two.

Santi was picked for Italy. Probably prefers to play the adults World Cup

Sure. He will be lucky to get a couple of games before they are eliminated.

On the other hand, the Junior Kangeroos will be hard to beat and will get more games and more publicity.

But what the hell, let's play with the adults.

Geez I wonder, play against the very best players in the world on a big stage, albeit with a weak team or play a glorified schoolboys comp between Australia and NZ.
You're deadest kidding if you feel playing in front of 100 people for a sausage roll and a can of coke is a better option than in a large stadium in a televised match.
>
Its like asking a player whether they'd rather be playing NRL for a team at the bottom of the ladder or playing Holden Cup for one of the better teams. A vast majority would rather play at NRL level I think you'd find!
>
Junior kangaroos means very little in the big scheme of things.

As for Santi and Lovett, Santi just has that X factor in that he can break the line, offload, score tries as well as make lots of tackles. Lovett seems to run angles and make lots of tackles, overall having less impact. If he can't make things happen against Holden Cup level defences, I have reservations about his ability to do it at NRL level.

Not all Holden Cup stars go on to be stars of the NRL. But how many squaddies for Holden Cup sides go on to make NRL? Even fewer…

>

Both are good achievements, it serves no purpose to downplay either representing your country at the world cup or making the junior Kangaroos. Both are outstanding accomplishments and both boys should be proud, fans pushing the barrow of either one and bagging the other are being highly unfair on each of them.
It is a big deal to play for the junior Kangaroos or Italy…..the last too posts of each bagged one or the other.

So RLW is saying apparently Santi is having second thoughts about the Eels after all. Wouldn't complain if we kept him, but we can't offer him more than he's worth.

Chances of getting a crack at NRL would still be better for him at Parra. But then again they're a basket case.

Brenden has a genuine desire to stay. He actually loves the joint and is excited about the future of the club.

He signed on with the Eels for security and an opportunity and now it seems both may still be an option at WT

Come on Grant ….... get that cheque book happening. You all but lost him now here's your chance to get him back to where he belongs.

I read that on twitter which makes it completely unbelievable, as much as I think he is decent I don't want another Moltzen situation.

Grant said they made a reasonable offer to him, but the eels came in significantly higher. They have other quality players in the squad that also deserve some coin. Hard calls have to be made and I think Santi should honour his contract.

I like the fact that back loading the contract did not appear to be an option - it destroys clubs.

The Parramatta Eels have said Brenden Santi will take up his position at the club as per his contract.

You might have seen speculation, but Brenden Santi and Nathan Peats will definitely be at the Eels next year!

If he stays with the Eels it will be because we couldn't come to a money deal suitable to both parties

Thought I read somewhere after Stuart departed that he has a get out clause, I think it would be a wise option as going to a rabble like Parramatta are like at the moment could ruin a career, why you would want to go to a wooden spoon club with no coach and no heirachy in charge, it's such a huge career risk!.

I'd take my chances anywhere to play 1st Grade. Especially with the amount of second rowers we have. He's young, they surely can't be THAT bad forever and if they are he's got his foot in the door for 1st Grade if he is anything special.
