He was noticeaby absent from the list of players we resigned last week. Very surprising we couldnt afford him. Presumably the Eels paid overs. He is the type of player that Stuart likes.

Don't see why we couldn't have kept him especially with benji gone? I mean, aysh is gone, miller, pettybourne i assume utai and lote too. Not to mention moltz whom simona inadvertently confirmed.

Oh well, maybe he didn't like the club or the eels went super overboard and we didn't want to risk it on an unproven player which is fair.

If that's true then that doesn't seem like overs.

He'd also be a shoe in for the Parramatta First grade team as well - no doubt - however he'd be a big fish in a small and polluted pond.

I dunno about these 'I heard…' stories.

100k isn't overs, but it's about what he's currently worth given he's completely unproven at NRL level. People often overestimate salaries, if you believed em all half the clubs would be about a million over the cap.

IF this is true I wouldn't be too upset.

The Eels will have paid massive overs as they have failed to recruit anybody in the top tier of players and as such focused on cherry picking where they could from others mid level (Norman) and juniors (Santi)

Add in it is a great possibility he walks straight into their 17 in Round 1 and it is a tempting offer for a young fellow.

Personally for the Wests Tigers needs and what we have I would prefer to see the retention of Fiagatusa to convert into a lock forward and rotate with Sue over the next year or so. He handled the State Cup transition far better last year then Santi did this season.

You would imagine the Eels have offered way over market value, or he figures he has a much better chance of cracking the NRL at parra. I thought he looked like a real work horse but really I never saw him as a skillful player. Anyway never like to see us let a good young kid slip through our fingers, they usually come back to bite us

We can't keep every junior but yes it does come to bite us.. Players like Matt Ryan, Isaac Liu and sharks guns are all our juniors that we let go and look at them now

it's a shame if this is infact the case. Santi was a player i think we needed basically because of his ability to do the little things. He has a great work rate. However, i can't blame the kid. I suspect he's been lured by the very real prospect of first grade next season. Whereas we could not make such promises. I suspect money won't have been an issue. They may've offered more but i suspect it wasn't a factor in the decision.

The reality is we can't keep them all. There are other decent prospects coming through so Santi's loss will be someone else's gain. Good luck to the kid though.
