Brian Smith?

Sign Smith for two years. He would put a rocket up certain players who needed it and certainly change the culture. We would stop playing touch and learn to play honest footy again.
he knows our weaknesses and would remedy them.
He goes well for a couple of years and his teams initially respond well to his style.

He goes well for a couple of years? Mate, he's been sacked by his last three clubs…

Thats an awesome idea , and if sheens gets another gig elsewhere we will then be assured of two extra wins a season which could get us into the top 8 .

Give him 2 yrs. Not looking for results, just looking for him put the broom through the place, ruffle a few feathers, pull a few noses out of joint, any other cliche you want to use. I'm perfectly aware of his record, but this wouldn't be an appointment based on results, it would be to give the place what it needs. The man is cold hearted individual and he doesn't care who he upsets. Look at the way he screwed over poor Kirk Reynoldson

We'll only continue go around in circles with Sheens anyway, so if we're not gonna get results we might as well get something out of it

Has Brian Smith ever left a Club in a better position than when he first got there???

Well technically they improve 1000% when he walks out the door so the answer would be yes Watto , all of them

Coached Easts to a GF 2010\. Before that Parra in 2001, St George 1992-93.
I'm only suggesting 2 year tenure.
I know it won't happen but I could see it working. Maybe not to win the comp but at least be competitive in the 8.

Can you imagine the baggage this guy would carry if he manages to coach another side to a GF

What's wrong with his record? Four friggin grand finals!

At least two of his appointments have been to wooden spooners the year before. The guy has got the runs on the board. But I agree with the rest of your post - the joint is screaming out for feathers to be ruffled and he is the one to do it.

Yeah 0/4 doesn't read well though once he gets them there Pete The guy tries too much to outthink himself Overcomplicates Rugby League

Yeh I know its 0/4\. But I make a couple of points:

I would gladly take four grand final losses in comparison to our chronic underachievement of regularly missing the 8 and
Pretty much all the grand finals I have seen (and there's been plenty!) have been decided by the players. I dont recall seeing a grand final and thinking it was a coaching triumph. The coach has a huge role in getting a team to the decider of course but in the decider its the talent of the players that determines the result.

Isn't going around in circles the nature of the world, life, economies, sports, families and friends etc. I have no problem with Mr Sheens coaching the Weststigers for another 2 years. He brings something that a lot of forum friends don't have, STABILITY. I enjoy and look forward to his interviews, this is a man of great wisdom. He knows what is in his control and what is not. I believe our club leaders deserve a bit more respect, than what is given in here. Go Weststigers!

Stability? At which stage of the season did you think the side looked stable? Was it when we had our back rower who was playing 5/8 shifted to hooker, our halfback, playing fullback, shifted to 5/8, our winger, turned centre playing fullback or when the best running 5/8 in the world was turned into a pedestrian halfback? Just some of his infinite wisdom on display i suppose. Maybe it was when our season was on the line against the roosters and we let the team running 2nd last put 40 on us. Or you might be talking about the first 67 minutes against parramatta. You can talk a about life and economies going around in circles, but a dog chasing his tail also goes around in circles and that gets him nowhere. 3 semi finals appearances in 10 years gets sheens all the respect he deserves on this forum and probably a little more than he's entitled to. Give yourself an uppercut for that one.
