Bring back Sheens

I just hope the original poster is not serious. Sheens is the single most responsible man for the huge hole we are in.

Sheens was blessed when he got sacked, it has worked out well for him. He left the place a total mess and would not be doing any better, probably worse. AT least this year we are showing a bit of guts with a injury ravaged side. He signed guys like Blair and Anasta, that are club killers salary cap wise really. Potter is there with a squad an coaching staff that he inherited. How on earth anyone can judge with fairly after 7 rounds with this squad is beyond me. Not to mention the fact we are without 6-7 regular starting first graders.

IN a round about way i almost agree with the original post. They should bring back Sheens and make him oversee this debacle he helped create. Potter doesn't have a hope the way things are now, will be better placed to judge him when he get even close to a fit side on the paddock and when he can make his mark with the roster and coaching staff.

Not fully serious Eddie. But I am very concerned about where we are heading. Not seeing the direction I was hoping for post-Sheens. This was written after 15 or 20 mins.

You can't possibly think that Potter told them to play like that for the first 30 minutes can you ,seriously

Disagree with you again about Potter being a motivational coach

Anasta said after halftime he was surprised that Potter wasn't burning the paint off the walls and was speaking calmly to the players about ball control and playing smarter

Rugby League is a simple game and coaches need to keep it simple

Bellamy is the perfect example of this , he makes the jobs for his player simple and thats why they excel

Sheens was the complete opposite , rarely conventional and we suffered for it

For tonight's match Wests Tigers needed a lot more technical expertise than what appeared available to them. Broncos on the other hand had one and quite often two trainers on the field together for a greater part of the match. Each trainer was continuosuly assessing the team structure and yelling out instructions to the Broncos players. Is this fair/within the rules?

Sheens was a complex coach and Bellamy/McGuire/Hasler are not. The latter three are still technical coaches. They examine every facet and detail of the game to find an advantage. They all have clear methods.

Potter is coming across to me an old fashioned coach. Doesn't seem to be much of a method.

Hope I am proven wrong.

Eddie your 100% on the money, we are now paying for years of Sheens madness. His recruitment was appalling, his game plans were outdated and ineffective.
Once your at the bottom or near it, things can take years to turn around.

Thanks TIm

Tell me when Sheens has ever had to deal with an injury list like this and how we went during it:

Benji
Anasta
Galloway
Moltzen
Lawrence
Ayshford
Koroibete
Gavet
Tuqiri

and Groat/Bodene/Fulton have not played many this year.

Spot on mate. If we had all of our players available we wouldn't be so far down the ladder and all of the "it's Sheens' fault" sheep would not be heard from. Teams that are lucky injury-wise make the finals and from there it is anyone's guess.
We have been bent over by the injury curse yet again :imp:
Last year was at least as bad.. It wasn't sheens fault then and certainly not potters fault now

I understand the OP's point - of course not the idea of bringing Sheen's back or tossing Potter. Because I believe Potter will be the man to get us a premiership one day.

But It was nothing short of embarassing that first half. And you couldn't say any of it was Potters fault. The boys simply didn't turn up to play, poor discipline, poor ball handling, no 'real' direction.

Obviously Sirro and Moltz need to learn and adapt certain styles of play if they are to develop in the halves - unfortunately though Moltz will probably sit on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

Point is - It is WAAAAAAY too early to be pointing fingers etc. We don't need Sheens to go forward cause it would be taking a step back. Persevere with Potter and I bet we will see positive things come from it

I won't judge potter until next year to be honest, this year has already been crueller by the worst injury record the clb has had and while we have lost I think we have been really competitive against storm and manly and then got close despite missing so many players the last 2 weeks. Our big issues for mine are ability to score points and how many penalties we are giving away. I think our attack will get better once we get Benji and Koroibete back in the team and more importantly so consistency in the backline. We do however need to work on our discipline too many penalties

Man what a joke of a thread

People comparing Potter to Bellamy and Sheens

People surmising Potter might not be the right man

Potters always going to be on a hiding to nothing, Sheens is bleeding an already cash strapped club dry rightly or wrongly….which imo restricts our ability to gain quality off field personell like the fitness/medical team not to mention recruitment

I tell you what until this club gets its act together OFF the field we will be making up the numbers for some time

Its a joke also that people think we are ill disciplined
This is a direct result of being over run by bigger faster stronger opponents...we arent competing.

You guys are clowns!
Your happy to bag sheens all the way last year, when we lose our half(lui) before a game has been played. Not to mention Ellis for 11 weeks, Galloway for his usual 6-8, Farah for a total of 8 weeks, etc. but it's all sheens fault. Wankers!! But potter gets injuries and it is still sheens fault!
It's not the injured players is Iam blaming its our lack of attacking options, we show nothing in attack, we are like an junior football side lack the ability to score. That's potters fault defense is one thing but going away from your strengths attack is a joke! We don't look like scoring unless from a kick, I am sick of it our plays are woefu!
Just saying everyone was cut about not making the 8 last year and asked for his head! And now everyone is happy with being in the bottom 4!!!!!
WTF

It was even worse during the U20s game, the Broncs trainers were constantly on the field and for the few remaining minutes of the game one was on full time calling to the players, how he got away with it is beyond me.

WTF

That's how I feel mate. I wasn't serious about wanting Sheens back. But the continued excuses about our shambolic performances are embarrassing. People saying they won't judge Potter until next year is a joke. Our squad is nowhere near as bad as some are suggesting.

I am judging Potter now on a complete lack of direction. Playing Moltzen in three positions - fullback, wing and halfback. Dumping a young half back after only four games. Failing to fix constant defensive errors in our back line.

Potter could turn this around and I hope he does. But based on what I have seen in the past 7 weeks, I will be surprised if we win many more games this year.

Our complete lack of attacking options, even when Marshall was fit, is an indictment.

WTF

Dumbest comment of the morning award

So do you understand anything about rugby league :brick:

Sheens assembled that squad that Potter is dealing with , do you understand that

Potter was signed in October so how can he sign any quality players , or even release other players to sign others ,he started on the back foot give the guy at least 18 months , we gave Sheens 10 years

Ummm is there not a difference between a guy handling a team for 10 years and a bloke having control of the team for five months? Can't see anybody being happy with us being in the bottom four right know, but if people were cut about us not making the 8 last year then it was because Sheens had control of this team for long enough to make the 8 more than three times in those 10 years. Good lord if you're going to cut sheens slack for having to put up with injuries then doesn't Potter deserve the same?
