Can Anastasia come home from her junket now

She can go to the back of the queue of returning Australians.

She went with Adrian Schrinner and Richard Colbeck (liberals) and it was judged as important to all three levels of government. This is like a 12 billion dollar thing for Queensland, are we seriously comparing her trip to people holidaying and on business? I think it was right Morrison went to the summit last month and it's right that they went on this trip. Not a big deal.

Not like it wasn't a done deal and we don't have the technology to talk to each and finalize the deal with out going to a COVID ravaged country to do it.

The other clowns can line up in the queue behind her, in fact it would probably be a good thing if none of them came back.

I'm pleased they got it. Hopefully the Olympics is still important in a decade. It feels to me that since Sydney the Olympics has not had the same meaning or the same importance. I think the world is a very different place to what it was two decades ago. I feel that the Football World Cup has taken on the mantle as the premier World sporting event.

Barcelona, Athens, Sydney, they were the three Games that were on in my formative years (too young to remember Seoul,) and they were all showpieces.

I would hope that anyone that was involved with SOCOG is leaned upon to provide advice and help provide direction as I still believe to this day it is the greatest Games that I have seen. A Brisbane Olympics is an Australian Olympics. Just like Melbourne, just like Sydney.

This is why Queenslanders elected Stacia, not @hank37w to lead us.
I love it when the the southern media keeps having a go at her, it just makes her more popular up here.
Remember before the last election when she was hammered by Sunrise and every southern shock jock. Forums were full of Ray Hadley disciples spruiking how she'd be wiped out at the election. Returned, what a surprise.
She's the only politician I've ever written to to thank for protecting her fellow Queenslanders despite enormous outside pressure.

Agreed. She's also indicated she'll be doing the hotel quarantine thing on her return.

And are people actually not aware there's hundreds of other people coming into and leaving the country for business purposes every week?

There's thousands.

Pretty easy as there were no other bids. Kinda says a lot really.

PS. Can we ban her from coming back or at least put her in a 1 star hotel quarantine upon her return,

Haha ?
Is that true there were no other bids ?

No other bids asked for, they were the preferred partner or something. It is meant to be the budget Olympics or something.

And I believe that the vote was something like 72 counties for and 5 against. How does that work when Queensland was the only contender?

Let me guess, China and a few of their cronies.

Sydney and Melbourne are also going to be apparently hosting events as well. My guess would be Football events at the new SFS, AAMI Park, MCG and Stadium Australia.

Queenslanders love giving it to NSW. NSW couldn’t give a toss. Just like little brother has to give it to big brother because he lives in his shadow.

Truth hurts hey lol

🤣 That chip on their shoulders more like a sack a spuds

That wouldn't be right CB.

Surely the football events will be at the greatest football stadium in the world.

Lang Park....Lol

Get that up ya Sydney!

  So you just won the Olympic Games and that's you're first thought.

Yep.
Worked pretty well too.

Congratulations,i remember when Sydney won the games. It was a fantastic time when they were on and the city was really buzzing. Enjoy.

@dwight-schrute sure didn't help with the opening comment here, but thank you to @Furious1 for showing some truly "national" perspective. Your comment stands out amongst the muck and mire of the petty and provincial mindset of the usual suspects on here.

Well done to the Qld premier and the state and its people. Wishing you only the best of good fortune in your Olympic planning.

Cheers mate. I just long for the days when we were all Aussies except at State Of Origin time. Somewhere along the way it's been lost.

Will they do as good a job though? lol

Have you been to Brisbane?

Yep

They won't disappoint.
Amazing place.

No, they won't disappoint but Brisbane is still largely a provincial city It's not an international city like Sydney or Melbourne.

That's why we love it.
I'm 12 k's from the city surrounded by State forests and bush walking trails.

Yeh, good call. Some of the exchanges between Premiers around COVID have been embarrassing and cringeworthy.

Clive Palmer may be too old by then to sabotage.

My son in law kept Clive Palmer's COVID pamphlet.
When I asked him why he said he wanted to show his future kids the crazy stuff people were saying during the pandemic.

Well they will have many matches being played all at once, they'll need big stadiums to accommodate them. The final will definitely be played at Lang Park.
