Brookes wants to test his worth

Brooks should thank his lucky Stars he's already with a club that thrives on mediocrity .
If this is going to be an annual event with brooks testing the market , let him go .
He's already overpaid IMO .
JLJ could do Brook's job on far less coin , the main focus should be on Tedesco and Moses !

I like Brooks but this sounds to me like a Benji move. If he tests his value he may realise he is worth a third of what he is currently on.

Don't get the negativity for Brooks, his stats are pretty good when compared with most other no7\. Started the year slowly but was in good form till he hurt his knee. I guess he can only get better and is always going to play a less flashier style of football to Moses. If you had to drop one of the three it probably would be Brooks, but in a ideal would you want to keep the three

Yeah not really getting that either ..as a combination they sit just behind Milford and Hunt in all key areas…

Wests Tigers need to also look at who they surround these guys with...Not many halves continually dominate when your forward pack gets owned every off week..

Agree agree.

The young 5/8 in 20's doesn't go too bad, Moses would have 3 seasons under his belt by then and could shift to halfback.

Brooks can leave for all I care, hes not bad but he isn't a world beater.

Sorry but I prefer to see him go, is ineffective in many areas as well picks fights in danger zones.

He picks fights? Really?

You check out last weeks game, he was grappling a player around the head that the player took offence at so a donny_Brook was almost on, right near our try line. A few times that has happened. Bit like Ennis.

Rubbish! He is nothing like Ennis. Players resent things all the time but "a donnybrook was ALMOST on" is somehow "picking a fight". He's not big enough to pick a fight with anyone but I know your form and you just never stop so I won't get dragged any further into something as stupid as this.

Seems to me that if he leaves us it will because he wants to be a dominant halfback who runs the show, and he has no chance of having that role as long as Moses stays with us.

But, if he wants to promote himself at Wests Tigers, he should

1\. Become a hooker or 2\. Learn to kick goals.

Dare to check out the game if possible, was late in the second half down near his own try line and he was grappling around the head - very lucky no penalty was awarded.

Happy to see Brooks leave. So over rated and hyped up and failed to deliver.

I can only remember a couple of games when he was half decent.

Our problem will be who will take him off our hands.

All our money so good to retain Teddy and Moses long term.

Littlejohn or Rankin to take over half back.

If Brooks goes, he goes. No big deal IMO. He isn't worth the 600k he is currently on, would love to see him put more than 1 good game in a row together before he starts playing hardball too much re his contract for the future.
Moses has shown that he has the class to be a star player, Brooks has yet to show that IMO. Would not be getting into a bidding war over Brooks' services when it comes time for negotiations, his significant contract money could be spent shoring up our team in other areas.
Totally over the romanticism of having a "one club player" these days after the Benji dramas and now the Farah ones…..never again should our club bow to the whims and wants of its players. That includes Moses and Tedesco- if they start demanding that they all be signed as a package deal etc then let them move on and use that massive coin on bringing recruits to the club that don't have this entitlement attitude and hankerings to create another "boys club" within WT.

I know that Brooks hasn't performed to the level that Moses has or even close to it however he does have some ability. His running game is great. He is fast and explosive. He is also getting his tackling technique working really well. He also has a good all round kicking game.

I think he just needs to do a bit more when he is out there. He is only young and given time I think he can be a really solid first grade player.

I think Moses though looks likely to get to the level that Tedesco is currently at.

What I worry about Moses is how many smashes he is going to cop. Your assessment of Brooks is fair but only not worth too much money yet. Repeating, I prefer Benji to him and save the dollars as well.

Many other posters have said this and I'll say it again, Moses should be 7 , he is the organiser, Brooks at 6 , he is the runner, can't believe it hasn't been tried.

Big call, Tedesco is ATM by far the best NRL FB, I would be more than happy that Moses steps up, but IMHO he is still far away from the best NRL 5/8.

on nrl 360,they were talking about the number of halves who were becoming available in 2017.

of course, brooks and moses being among them.
they were talking about a foil for corey norman who has just resigned for parra- saying of all the halves
adam reynolds was most suitable to be normans partner.

i dont have a deep knowledge of halves pairings as many on this forum do.

if moses and brooks arent together in 2017,as may happen ,who could ;

complement moses

complement brookes

any realistic suggestions -?

From what I saw of Benji against WT I much prefer him on $300K-$400 than Brooks on $500K. Benji does not go MIA as Brooks has a few times.

Benji is finished - he'll be lucky to get any NRL offers next season, let alone $400k.
He was very poor against us, and has been all season.

For mine, Adam Reynolds is the best as a complimentary half for any livewire player like Moses, Norman or Josh Reynolds. Kicks well, doesn't overplay his hand.

I don't think there's anyone out there cheap enough and would come who's heaps better than JLJ/Rankin.

I've already seen the game. Now we've gone from a donnybrook to lucky there was no penalty. I give up, you win, OK!

He'd be perfect for our club. In fact, I would prefer him over Brooks. As you said, doesn't overplay his hand and would compliment Moses and Teddy really well. Can also kick! Exactly what we need right now.

We will always struggle to match other clubs offers for any of our players because of the lop-sided TPAs

Yes, we will match any team against the normal salary cap if we are keen on keeping Broses but the top clubs will kill us with TPAs being also offered.

The NRL is NOT an even competition. It favours some clubs over others. The Broncos/Cowboys will offer $400,000, we will offer $600,000 and a player will still leave - "to be at a winning club". All the while it was the additional $400,000 plus a house that sealed the deal.

I guess the NRL have there hands tied on TPA's. I would imagine if they wiped them out it would be considered a restraint of trade. Although the salary cap was introduced to create a level playing field and it probably is now more lop sided than ever, as some teams can only spend their cap as they can not generate much if any in the way of TPA's while other clubs get cap plus a steady supply of TPA's

Brooks is way underrated by the forumers. The problem for mine is the coaching and Moses overplaying his hand and dictating play. Whist Moses looks flashy we are not getting enough ball on the left edge where Simona and Addo Carr should be doing damage. In attack Nofo and Naiqama have been shining however, its a team game and we are not spreading the love.It is a major reason we are looking so predictable.

I don't know whether we can keep two developing yet overpaid halves with our lack of Third Party deals however, I would try yo hang onto him as we attract only players other teams don't want usually.
