Will this thread get a run every time we lose a game?? - even JT covered it in the press conference saying anyone who blames the young inexperienced halves for that loss is simply WRONG. Those of you who have played the game in the halves will know that if you play behind a dominant pack there is space and time in attack and less work and pressure in D. We let the Roosters pack roll through us for most of the game and no halves combo would have performed any better.
In his short time in NRL Brooks has shown on numerous occasions that he has the makings of a great half, and as for Moses, the guy has heart and courage and some very obvious ball skills and talent. These basics have got to be the stuff that makes great halves. If you think that while they learn and take on the responsibilities of guiding this young team under the weight of everyone's expectations, they won't make mistakes - well that's extremely unrealistic.
It's a game of 17 players and there are many in the team that need to improve on last Friday night's showing, however, I do agree that as a whole we look like a far different club this year than in recent seasons. At least we have been out there having a real dig and the focus each week is on playing NRL and how we get better at winning. I have faith in the big picture and it is way, way too early to tell what will come of the Tigers in this season or the next few.
Oh, and yes, we should never have let Koro or Blake go - but we did for whatever reasons. So they are GONE now - can't we get passed that at last and stop rehashing that crap???
Bravo SJ. I vote your post one of the best on this thread. Fans want instant success, but it's just not going to happen. The club's rolled the dice, so let's wait and see where they roll.
I believe we're heading in the right direction.
Instant success? How about just SOME success. 05 aside, this club is the most unsuccessful club of the last 15 yrs with the lowest amount of playoff appearances of any team in the comp. People get tired of losing after a while, but criticized cos they don't to want to cop a further 2 or 3 yrs of losing at the expense of developing kids who may not cut it in the long run?
You might be right about finals appearances, but I disagree with the measure of success. We've won a premiership. I'll take that over a team like the Cowboys who have routinely made the semis over the last ten years to miss out, or a team of perpetual losers like Cronulla.
P.S. I do agree this club is a perennial underachiever though and I want nothing more to see us return to the winners circle.
