His high kicks are equally foul.If I have a big knock on Brooks his grubbers are foul.
Come to think of it, his ‘long’ kicking game is terrible too.
Great debut though. Feels like it was a lifetime ago.

That doesn't have anything to do with where he has to kick them from or the chase at all?Brooks drops clearing kicks behind the opposition 20? Not in any game I've watched. His bombs from inside our own half offer no threat, are usually caught easily and brought back to the 40m line or more. Our defence is under pressure field position-wise from that point.
Moses was hot AF in the last third of the 2016 season. Brooks was good for Teddy too.would of loved to see Brooks play with teddy and moses for longer than the 1-2 seasons they had
100%. He has never been a good game manager. I don't know why every coach has tried to mold him into one.I agree. Brooks tries hard. He has improved his defence out of sight. His running game can be dangerous. His attacking kicks, when directed at players such as Doueihi and Maumalo are deadly.
He is not a game or man manager, yet coach after coach insists he is. If he had the opportunity to play like Benji did, only touching the ball when something is on, he would become an asset. In the first 50 v Storm, he looked to be enjoying his footy. He looked fast, energetic and enthusiastic. A beautiful run around move for a try and a great kick for Ken. Awesome. But then the Storm clawed their way back into it. This was the time for him to step up and push them back into their box. Keep them down their end, maybe turn the tide with a 40/20, target their tired players in an almost bullying fashion…alas this is the stuff he doesn’t do and hence his polarising status within the club.
If you read Cleary's comments in that article about the shortage of NRL halves, he told Brooks to play his natural game ie run the ball. 2018 speaks for itself. While many do not like Cleary, I believe him to be in a top echelon coach.100%. He has never been a good game manager. I don't know why every coach has tried to mold him into one.
I notice that Penrith currently run the same defensive patterns that we did in 2018. The big difference is they have actually have good players to execute it. Cleary is a good coach, no doubt about it.If you read Cleary's comments in that article about the shortage of NRL halves, he told Brooks to play his natural game ie run the ball. 2018 speaks for itself. Hands down.Brooks is a better player than Croft.
Like comparing a McDonald's cheese burger to a hungry jacks cheese burger...Hands down.
Not for a club like ours.Like comparing a McDonald's cheese burger to a hungry jacks cheese burger...
Sorta the same but different and there's a 100 better options available.

Yeah, we gotta appease the fans and extend their favourites like Nofo....Not for a club like ours.
I swear people watch different games. Last week, all of Brooks bombs were pinpoint, landing <10m from the tryline. He kicked well last week. His high kicks are equally foul.

He'll do even better tomorrow.I swear people watch different games. Last week, all of Brooks bombs were pinpoint, landing <10m from the tryline. He kicked well last week.
The reality is that we do not have the ability to attract the top echelon of halves. If we did we would have had better options than bringing Hastings back to the NRL.Yeah, we gotta appease the fans and extend their favourites like Nofo....
Halves are a rare find these days. The reality is that we do not have the ability to attract the top echelon of halves. If we did we would have had better options than bring Hastings back to the NRL.

No Ponga at the back.
R.i.P Newcastle
It’s probably even more important this year with the set re-start in your own 40 being abolished. Some people expect a "good" bomb to be like Douiehi's spiral or Benji or Pat Richards spiral that are harder to catch but what people dont take into account is those kicks are totally unreliable and cant be relied upon set after set. They are a trick shot.
The purpose of Brooks bombs isnt to get them to drop it, but to make sure that the opposition start their set 5-10m out with the kick chase right in front of them. Last week Brooks kicked very well.
I swear Ponga is always missing when we play them. A conspiracy for sure. He'll do even better tomorrow.

We’ll see.
Thank you. I honestly couldn’t be bothered watching the game again to prove a point. Though I do recall with explicit detail that in 2 occasions when Melbourne started their set deep in their own half after a kick, that Joffa got penalised for rushing up inside the 10.I swear people watch different games. Last week, all of Brooks bombs were pinpoint, landing <10m from the tryline. He kicked well last week.
