Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks said his side's recent run of form isn't cause for concern, with an adjustment to the little things required ahead of Saturday's trip to the nation's capital.

With just two wins from their past seven games, Wests Tigers have slipped outside the top eight and now sit two points back from the eighth-placed Panthers ahead of two tough road trips in the next fortnight to Canberra and then Newcastle.

But the reigning Dally M Halfback of the Year said there was no need for panic just yet, stating that it was the little things his side needed to improve on most.

"I think it's just the little things in the game at the moment," Brooks said.

"They're the things that are costing us and becoming big things.

"We've got to get on top of it. We're still a good chance to make the finals and we've got to concentrate on playing good football.

"It all starts again this week against Canberra but we'll definitely be up for it."

Celebrating #Benji300

Having come off second best when the two sides met earlier this year, Brooks noted that he'd seen some strong improvements in attack in the weeks since that game and highlighted that continued adjustments were taking his side forward.

"Again, it was the little things that cost us in that one," Brooks reflected.

"We were having a play off and they ended up scoring some tries off the back of it.

"We’ll need to fix that all up but since our last meet, our attack has been a lot better. I thought on the weekend that our attack was pretty good; it was just our ball handling and too many errors that were what cost us in the end."

Despite the tough run of form, Wests Tigers remain just one win outside the top eight heading in to the final two months of the season, with Brooks emphasising that his side still had a great chance to get the job done in these crucial games.

“You need to win every game — simple as that," he said.

"If you start winning games you start building belief and momentum that can help kick start the second half of the season.

“Similarly to the team, my form has been up and down and I know I can play a lot better than what I have been.

"It’s something I keep working hard at training to get me there."

Match: Raiders v Wests Tigers
ROUND 18 - SATURDAY 20TH JULY

If they couldn't get up for Benji's 300th they have no chance against Raiders in ACT... I thinks it is time to blood some younger players to see if we have a Diamond in the rough.

Getting a bit sick and tired of Brooks saying he needs to improve or do this or do that. Been a few years and every few months these bits come out. Just play the bloody game and let your footy do the talking.

To me it's a concern, that wests tigers have not played finals since 2011, surely that should be motivation enough for the entire season.

Isn’t cause for concern? He has to be joking? Gees no wonder we are not making progress.

Groundhog day

You are not wrong, and while we are at it lets give Robbie and Benji another year for not making the 8 again, this is the same crap every year, heads need to roll.
But no we will just trot out the same team every week and miss the 8 again, there is always next year, the WestsTigers mantra

yep definitely this points needs to be stressed over and over again
titans have declared it's do or die for them- same needs to be the case for us with madge too..

Every week when I read one of these player interviews I am immediately reminded of a quote from Sean Connery’s character John Mason in The Rock.. “Your “best”! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and (shag) the prom queen.”

Sounds like he has run out of things to say when a microphone is shoved in front of him.....

I love the question from the journo that we “always seem to be scrapping for a place in the eight this time of year”. Then the answer is “yeah it’s a bit of a pattern” or “it’s pretty much like this every year”. Isn’t this why there is a pre season? To get that sh#t out of our game? They should just say “it’s not good enough and we know we need to step up and question what each of us is doing about it”. I do respect Madge, but I am also starting to tire hearing him say “he has a lot of belief in this team” and “I can see the improvement in the team”. I’m not seeing it, at least consistently, especially when it counts. I just hope it is a transition to a new coaching style and that we have the next 8 games or so to finally see something click.

Whilst I have been impressed with Brooks defence, his attack and game management has been very poor, but I honestly believe it will improve if Benji wasn't there, and Benji is no game manager to learn off.
I think Benji's presence is enough to put Brooks off, which is worry, but I think he will improve heaps if Benji was gone

Do you think it's his idea to have these interviews? Just wants to chew the fat. The club make him do it. It helps them sell memberships!
