Brooks keen to improve little things ahead of Raiders clash

He’d be a much better player in the Melbourne Storm. Tedesco has never looked better playing for the Roosters. The majority of our team sucks, especially our outside backs who are supposed to be chiming in fluently in attack. Instead they stifle and waste any opportunities they’re given, and I’ve seen plenty. Lucky Brooks is a good defender because any attacking opportunities he provides go to waste most of the time. Seems a bit naive to blame one person for this mess is all, especially when he doesn’t look half as bad as the others, bar a small handful.

To be honest, I've chucked a couple of throwaway lines at Brooks simply because I'm tired of seeing; We gotta improve___________, from him every few months.
What I'd really like to see is articles from Packer, Jennings, etc telling us what has to improve.

You’re not going to get a lot out of Jennings cos he’s mediocre. He made his name off one year being on the end of the backline of a top 4 side. A lot wingers are going to cash in in that position. Bennett saw through him though. Crazy to think he was preferred over Noffa during the first half of the year.

As for Packer, idk anymore. What a big disappointment.

@GNR4LIFE I think you are correct.
The main point I'm making though is that Brooks becomes a target whenever he does one of these interviews. What I'd like to see is to bring some of the questionable performers into the limelight with interviews so they can feel the heat, instead of being able to hide while Brooks cops the knocks.

Brooks is on a hiding to nothing while ever we have a pack with no grunt, matched with bog average backs and a whole lot of fans relying on him to make something good from that.
And if most of our recent games against Canberra are anything to go by, he is in for another tough afternoon.
Would love to see him play a couple of games with a better than average squad now he is a more mature player, just to see how it impacts on his own game. Sadly that aint going to happen anytime soon.

You guys are wrong. He is the next Joey Johns. Next year you'll see.
The next Trent Hodkinson is the reality. Not bad but no world beater.

@tony-soprano that’s the point ! He ain’t getting the ball, and for the last time to those in the back that didn’t hear... it’s because he’s not a natural born leader to scream ball.

God damn it if we had Hodgkinson or Townsend and either the dogs or sharks pack around him then my money says we are in the 8.

Think about how much size and speed (outside of brooks) we give up to 14 or 15 other teams every single week in %90 of players positions.

Brooks took a long, long time to come good and I’ve seen that before, I’ve seen that a long time coming + a diamond in the rough & with of course the right conditions around him

We will win finals games off his back. Who has he had to support over the first 5 years really of his still very young rugby league career? Anasta? About the only somewhat capable of managing a game and (when he got his Gatorade) leading from the front... that was a life time ago

AND WE DID PRETTY WELL in those years, throw away a Josh Addo Carr, let a Tedesco cop his discount place in Bondi + let Woods, Fifita, sironen and tauapau go in a short space of time and well, well well... what’ve we got here? A deadset recipe for disaster. Not a single ounce of anything that I’ve just mentioned should have or will fall onto Luke Brooks’ head. Not from those of us that really and truly support, like anybody who brings up that Joey Johns comparison crap is just asking for it👊🏻

Journalists have a job too at the end of the day and our views on our #1 halfback who, will not be replaced any time soon, shouldn’t change like the ink that they print the pages with. He has had the odd Clanger but never really cost us a game single-handedly and always gives his all. More than I can say about some of his ‘mates’.

Somebody else referred to this earlier, put them on the spot, the ones with no value to add NRL wise and looking for any kind of publicity they can get to see if that creates any kind of news worthy journalism that people would even have an opinion of... outside tigers supporters

Some of the guys I follow from other teams and have spoken to on occasion all have immense respect for LB. I’m really, really sick of him copping a shellacking for the overall form of the team. He is absolutely trying to lead... just that some of the boys couldn’t play Simon says with their a hearing aid and he’s still not getting top quality half back service or an engine room to run through after decimating carries. The reason he SEEMED to go better under Cleary was that his only instruction had been run and our teams focus was to work out in a grind through the middle with tougher teams until either way one of us would win the ruck.

In the games where we didn’t get the result last year I also felt that brooks seemed and looked far more clueless on what his role was if we didn’t have any momentum. He is playing much, much more fluent attacking football this year and really without Benj would have no problems running both sides of our attack - he’s like an energiser bunny... again the problem is no lethal weapons outside, inside or any side for him to link the last pass... imagine other teams knowing a face ball to Chris Lawrence at age 30 was still the best tactic your coach could give you in terms of turning a game and basically having nobody else that offers even a similar desire to bust through the line, catch the ball, or run at full pelt. Give Cronky that for five years and let me see how he goes?

Like it or not he will NOW have time to shine and I thought that those ten minutes at the end tonight were by far and away the best output from him, even looking to hit Chee Kam or Momirovski, that I’ve seen since debut.

Fantastic, 10 minutes when the game was done and dusted.

That says it all.

@Madge Yes i agree totally, i saw Brooks taking control last year, but this year benji has been a bit of a highlight in the underperforming tigers and has regained that control with just his football and game management overtaking Brooks where as Benji trys to show the way when playing well like a leader in his runs his tackles and effort brooks often finds himself in back seat though he trys and doesnt shy away from his duties
