Brooks & Moses always wanted to stay

Exactly. Taylor has been coach as well.

I honestly think that both Brooks and Moses may turn into good players but how long do you wait. They don't have excuses.

sure would like to know how the author defines prodigious?

i think ive only ever heard it referring to rugby league.

langlands was a prodigious kicker. irvine was a prodigious talent.

what a load of codswallop.
whatever that means.

The thing I dont get about these guys is they have played footy together their whole life.

Yet they dont look good as a partnership. Some sort of combination or real team work between them.

I dont see it. Not yet anyway.

Not disagreeing with you but I think everyone underestimated how tough these 2 would find it together in 1st grade at the same time, especially with a forward pack that has provided little protection/support for them. Couldn't be a worse environment for them to learn their trade. However it is what it is & if they're getting the big bucks they have to perform.

Let's hope they settle now, begin running the team effectively & build some lethal combinations with Teddy, etc.

And yet Teddy has been a superstar with the same pack and 2 under achieving halves - go figure.

I guess all players develop at different rates depending on a lot of different factors. I'd like to think Brooks and Moses still have it in them to become stars but I don't think they'll reach the heights of Teddy tbh. He's already a standout and it's hard to imagine he's peaked already, will probably get even better over the next few years.

Halves need to 'own' the team before they start looking like they should. It could be they are just immature. Or they might feel that there are certain other members of the squad who 'own' the team, and are not able to take control of the side while this is the case.

To me, both look a little like the young kid in the team, not brave enough to step up & really show their ability just yet, held back by a little self confidence to some degree, more in tune with not being comfortable gambling that their ability is good enough for the team to lean on.

Teddy is different in that his role allows him to rely on his natural individual skills more than his organisational skills.

I don't find it coincidental at all that Brooks steps up somewhat when other certain members of the squad are not playing, but falls into the 'quiet boy' persona once those player/players are back in the squad. He goes from being forced to be 'the man' (for better or for worse) to being able to go into his shell & let the responsibility slide off his shoulders a little more.

Brooks, in particular, needs to own this team. He needs to touch the ball more, he needs to direct the team more, he needs to put it on his shoulders more. He was fine coming through the grades with a bunch of the guys out there now. But, there are still a couple of 'legends' of the club that might domineer the vibe of the team on game day.

I believe his development will escalate dramatically once he is 'forced' to grab control of the team on the field.

They are ball players who naturally like to play whats in front of them.

Taylor's structure prevents all players from doing that.

Interesting piece from Pascoe on long term extensions to Brooks and Moses contracts. Interesting from the perspective of why he would have been so forthcoming.

CG, I think you have articulated it well, better than anyone else so far. It is not any of the players''fault how this has come about, the only outstanding issue is how long will it take the halves to obtain consistency.

That is interesting.. A different approach to most clubs. I don't have a problem with that, but I didn't like the fact he went into details about the clubs plans for them. The staggered 3-4 year deal plan - probably could've done without telling people that :s

Yeah, made me wonder about motive.

Someone should remind Pascoe there's a player of even greater importance off contract next yr, who should be a bigger priority than our 2 halves combined.

I'm sure he's well aware of that. He probably thinks keeping these two will help in keeping Teddy.

definitely need to build around a great spine.

Tedesco, Brooks and Moses are a very strong trio to centre the team around. Once our pack starts moving and we can put those 3 in space we will become very threatening. And also add in liddle although ive never seen him play but he sounds good.

And all 3 are now off contract at the same time again next year. I have heard no talk about resigning Tedesco and that has me very worried.
