No offense to Lote, i like the bloke, but if we re-sign him with the likes of Koroibete, Simona and Nafoaluma coming through, plus after the signing of Pat Richards then I give up.

i agree
some may argue its for depth but we have plenty there imo
nofo koro simona lawrence richards leilua mr t
and i assume they would all be in the 25, maybe not leilua? thats a lot of positions taken up for the ctw

like i have said before i am happy to have lote stay on in a PR position with the tigers, he is always out in the community and has a good reputation just what we need in the PR department, but not on the field

Has anyone officially ever mentioned Folkes? Or is it just what the forumers are hoping?

_Posted using RoarFEED 2013_

Pure speculation.
Mayer accidentally tweeted folkes instead of folks and its been going on ever since. Thus the "no e" reference from Mayer over the weekend.

Although he has never flat out denied that he would be approached, only to say they have caught up and have a relationship from when they were both working for the bulldogs.

ill take a stab
moses and brooks signed until 2018
folkes returns
and
tom burgess, unsigned, most likely not going to get much game time with luke still to return, if we can pinch one, another may just follow
or maybe the forward the went back on the parra deal?

Josh Papalii re-signed with Canberra, case closed.

Also who signs 2 kids who haven't played first grade for 5 yrs? The pressure you guys are putting on these two is unfair. Its getting to the point where anything less than Johns and Fittler standard careers will be a failure

My guess its Brooks and Moses plus two depth signings maybe Reni Mautai (spelling is probably crap) and Halatau. We certainly need a back up for Farah, but other than that, unless top shelve stuff I would not bother. Although Mayer has denied it another name could be Wallace, could give you no6,no7 and no9 coverage.

Anyway we will soon know, but other than the two kids,I dont think we will be jumping up and down

not papa, the poms, they signed 2 or 3 of them and one pulled out of his contract
with all the interest from other clubs, we are better off signing them long term and locking them up cheaper with the option to increase their salary should they perform, im not expecting anything, im hoping one of them steps up into first grade flawlessly, if both do we are set for our glory days, in reality one will help set us in the right direction.
if one succeeds then we would be able to attract a better halves partner. its no secret we need to sign both, we cant risk letting the two biggest prospects walk out on the club

plus they are signed until end of 2014 so its only a 4 year extension, if we lock them up long term and they see that we think/know they have a future with us then i think they would be more likely to be one club players, and that contract will work out that when they come off contract then robbie will either be retiring or signing on the cheap to help out the club at age 33, giving us an extra million to throw at them to keep them at the club should they perform to all our hopes

If these two kids don't make it, or at least don't make it to the level people are expecting (which i think is a massive chance that one of them won't, probably Moses), then let this be a lesson not to build up kids as messiah's before they even play first grade.

Yeah could not agree more, sign them up but on incentive based contracts or something similar, so if things don't go as planned for both sides then no drama's.

Really confused with the Halatau signing. Don't see what he offers that Fulton and Luani don't (backrow and hooker).

Big positive locking up Brooks and Moses for FOUR years.

I don't mind Halatau. As stated in the email, he will be a mentor for the kids (off the field I guess). He is a good guy and wouldn't mind him mentor these kids. He is a hard worker. Nothing flashy but a hard worker. To me that is a good signing.

Its hard to judge right now what he can or can't offer. Let's leave it till we see it. I am sure Potter has something in mind. Potter is doing a great job. It's hard for us to say anything unless we really know what the coach has in mind.

Wests Tigers is pleased to announce the re-signing of three of the game’s brightest young prospects and the return of a favourite son.

The Club has secured the services for the next four years of talented 18-year-old **halves Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses** from 2014 and **NSW Cup hooker Joel Luani** on a two-year deal. Wests Tigers welcome ‘home’ experienced **utility Dene Halatau** for the next two years.

Head Coach Mick Potter said Brooks and Moses were very good prospects and just two of the many talented youngsters coming through the Club.

“Both boys have plenty of potential and are talented kids in their own right,’’ Potter said.

“They have shown right throughout schoolboy footy and the NYC that they can cut it easily. I have no doubt that we will see the best of them in the next couple of years.”

Brooks and Moses are in their first season in the Wests Tigers NYC team after rising through the Balmain Tigers junior representative ranks.

Moses was named the NSWRL SG Ball Player of the Year in 2012 and both were members of the 2012 Australian Schoolboys team with Brooks representing the NSW U20s team this year. Brooks has also had a taste of the NSW Cup.
“I have played all of my junior footy at the Tigers so it was a pretty easy decision to make,’’ Brooks said.
“Wests Tigers have looked after me well. The first grade players have helped me so much already on and off the field. I have so much still to learn. I’m excited about what lays ahead.”

Moses said he was more than happy to stay at Wests Tigers.
“The Club has looked after me really well over the past three years so I didn’t want to go anywhere else’’ Moses said.
“Mick Potter and the first grade players have made me feel really welcome and have helped me out so much with my game. This is just the beginning for me.”

Halatau returns to Wests Tigers following four seasons with Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

The hard working back-rower made his NRL debut for Wests Tigers in 2003 and was a member of the Club’s inaugural premiership winning team in 2005\. Halatau spent seven seasons at Wests Tigers before leaving for the Bulldogs.
He is highly regarded off the field and is already involved in the NRL’s Apprentice Mentor program.

Club CEO Grant Mayer says that the signing of Halatau was about much more than just football.
“His experience and leadership as a senior player is going to be invaluable for some of our younger players,’’ Mayer said. “We have been very clear that we are investing very heavily in our juniors and a player like Dene will provide leadership and mentoring for the group. This is a strong signing for the club as he adds depth to our club both on and off the field. Dene has a fantastic reputation in the game as a true leader.”

Potter said Luani, a member of the premiership winning Wests Tigers NYC team from last season, was another young player with plenty of potential.

“Joel has been playing a back-up role at hooker and in the back-row for the Wests Tigers NSW Cup team,’’ Potter said.
“He is still very young but he has got a good shape about him and has a very bright future. He will be a good back up for Robbie Farah when he is unavailable.”

Halatau is actually a vital cog in terms of rebuilding culture.

I was happy to see him go when he left but his time away from Sheens has seen him grow as a player and his directness and ability to provide an extra DH runner can prove invaluable. His experience is also an asset.

Luani is a great signing as he will take that Halatau role after Denes contract is finished.

Should also see the end of Masada which is also a highlight

Happy with all four. Halatau will be an excellent role model and will bring no nonsense straight running. I can see him being a very useful 14 again.

got the contract end date right with the two juniors
halatau is an interesting selection; he offer experience and versatility
he can pretty much play anywhere on the field but fits in the 2nd row seamlessly, compared to the utility of sheens who is a back and plays 5 or 10 minutes and is a wasted bench spot
my question is, with BMM playing relatively no minutes each week will this see the end of his first grade career? we cant carry him for a ten minute stint and have halatau on the bench with the small 2nd row we already have, if BMM was capable of playing maybe 30 mins in total he would be so much more valuable and his bench spot would be guaranteed due to his size and the impact he could potentially have
however as stated he bring fantastic experience, a great level head and quality, he can play big minutes if needed and offers some deadly dummy half running when we need it, that in turn takes the pressure off robbie and allows him to go back to his creativity game style rather than having to carry the team
he will likely play hooker when farah is away with luani coming off the bench? slowly blooding him?

good signings i think
